...I have some damaged tapes (water damage, some are just played out, a couple with cracked or warped cases) that I'd like to have fixed, but I'm unsure of the method or business to go with on this.
Anybody here ever have a VHS tape repaired, and if so, how and by whom? I have a lot of old movies, TV shows, and family movies I'd like to be able to watch again.

Wow.... what a coincidence. I just fixed an old tape that I won on ebay. I won Starrcade 85 (original)... however, the tape was warped. I took the tape/spools out and put them in another case. Paid $10 for the tape/cover warped.... now I have Starrcade 85 master and you can't tell the difference.

I ordered a copy of deathmatches on ebay on VHS back in the day. When it came, it was cracked. My dad swapped the spools like you said and it played. Water damage/mold is pretty much S.O.L. to my knowledge. Your best bet is to transfer them over to DVD (or at the least another VHS) and hope they're still watchable. I lost a lot of VHS tapes that way when I lived in the basement and it flooded. Most of the bottom shelf was self-taped crap, anyway luckily. ...And I never put wrestling tapes on the bottom shelf. I ended up replacing almost all my important VHS movies after that with DVDs thanks to free amazon certs.
