forgot one more. though in my previous post above, nothing will ever top the 2005 Capital One Bowl, but found one more gem from the Hawks this decade, well more the crowd... (Minnesota Gophers fans look away)
something I don't think I'll ever see again, tearing down the goalposts... IN AN OPPOSING TEAMS STADIUM!!!

And for me, personally, here's some more favorites of mine. Jazzman already covered 2 of them, Syracuse basketball beating Kansas in 2003 for the National Championship, and SU Lax coming back and beating Cornell last year for the title. PS Andy MacDonald...better than you. And yeah, I know this happened in the 90's, but...

The moment when Kobe Bryant's squeaky clean image was blown and the world saw him for what he really is. The best basketball player of the decade?

Anytime anyone has ever bodychecked or kicked the crap out of Todd Bertuzzi. Seconded, for sure. I think it might have been mentioned earlier, but...

One other thing i forgot to put in.
2008 ALCS Game 7 Rays vs. Red Sox
Joe Maddon puts in Rookie David Price who had only played in 5 ML Games and had never been in a save situation ever to get the last 4 Outs of the game and send the former AL East Doormats to their first ever World Series.
Had to have been one of the few times in my adult life so far where i actually felt like a kid again watching sports.

In 2006, the Edmonton Oilers barely made it into the playoffs, then went all the way to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. (I think they were even down 3-game-to-1 in the finals before winning the next two to push it to Game 7.) As sad as it was to see them lose in the final game, it was great to see such an underdog almost win it all -- especially considering they had to go with their back-up goalie in Game 7 of the final.

- The Appalachian State Mountaineers, from out-of-the-way Boone, North Carolina, beating #5 Michigan in Michigan. Upset of the decade.
- Carolina Hurricanes winning the Stanley Cup.
- The Superbowl run by the Panthers.
- Any time...ANY time the Dallas Cowboys choke.
- Brock Lesnar defeats Frank Mir and owns the crowd.
- Syracuse vs. UConn going 6 overtimes.

It wasn't a major moment, but Game 5 of the 2002 Eastern Conference Finals. After the Game 3 debacle at the Fleet Center, I was damn proud to see Keith Van Horn of all people bury Boston and their hopes of going to the NBA Finals. It was one of the few times the Continental Airlines Area really came alive in like... ever. Van Horn after stuffing threes down the Half-Truth's throat.

Any Super Bowl won by the Steelers and thus causing the haters to whine about it for 4+ years and then some. Pens Stanley Cup victory over the Wings last year, hoping it's a Pens / Hawks final this year and that Hossa can be on the losing end one more time Seriously though, best moment of this decade is Zenyatta beating the best race horses out there, running against the boys and being able to retire undefeated. A friend called it the rope a dope of the horse world. Watch the horse with the yellow saddle pad and the moves she makes coming off the turn. Amazing horse.

The moment when Kobe Bryant's squeaky clean image was blown and the world saw him for what he really is. No lie, I enjoyed the hell out of that as well, but my Kobe hating days are over. Plus, the "facts" surrounding said case just make it too much to laugh at for me. * And all the Patriots love in this thread made me sick to my stomach, until I remembered that we started the decade off like this... Complete with commentary from Demarco Farr and Dick Vermeil. Then again, something had to happen to make this possible, right? Anything associated with this Wiki page makes me happy:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Greatest_Show_on_Turf Minus Az-Zahir Hakim's fumble prone ass. Other forgotten things from this decade... *Note, alleged rape isn't funny, but the very promiscuous American Idol reject thing had me rolling.

CJ JONES...SEE YOU LATER I was at this game, and can attest it was the loudest I've heard anything anywhere. Then a hurricane came and the remainder of the game was cancelled and never spoken of again. ;D

I'm gonna go with an obscure choice. It was the last game of '03-'04 NBA season, and home court advantage is on the line for the Lakers. Just when it looked as if L.A. was going to lose the division title to Sacramento (ugh!) against Portland, Kobe saves the team...twice!
This decade has consisted of a lot of nail biting moments for Los Angeles, but that one is probably my favorite of the bunch.

I hated the fact that my favorite team, the Houston Astros, were treated as an afterthought the ENTIRE series. It was their FIRST World Series, and I know that the White Sox won in over 80 years, but it felt like a kick the gut to see that nobody made any mention of Houston after that World Series (and since). But, you know what? You guys deserved it WAY more than those snooty Cubs fans up on the North Side, so I'll give you kudos. However, here's a few more memories that I loved: It was determined on the last goal, but it allowed Houston to set up the first of two consecutive MLS Cups and prove to be a force in the Western Coference for years. Dynamo Dominance, baby! Everyone remembers the "Playoffs?!" comment, but the first part, where Mora talks about that you can't beat anybody with 5 turnovers (the Colts lost to San Francisco), that I remember just as well. Hey, meltdowns are funny.

2005 brought to you by the numbers 5 and 14...
Luckily for me, I had the radio feed instead of listening to boring Joe Buck and Tim McCarver butcher the game.
11-1 in the playoffs, gentlemen. And they didn't beat any patsies, either.
