The plastic tips at the ends of shoelaces are called aglets. Their true purpose is sinister!

For no apparent reason the Disney channel has just suddenly decided to become available for free on my TV. The Phineas and Ferb Xmas special is on at 4 today. Sometimes the cards just fall in your favour. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I only know what the plastic tips are called because in Repossessed, the family's name is Aglet and the daughter asks her dad what the name means and he says it's the person who puts the plastic tips on shoelaces because back in the day, a person's last name was also his profession. So the daughter says "Oh like Carpenter and Baker". Then the son asks, "So what did John Hancock do?" ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) ;D

The plastic tips at the ends of shoelaces are called aglets. Their true purpose is sinister! Once again, you beat me to it. Good job.
