We knew about the s*** he used to pull in Green Bay, but we forgave him because he was The Mighty Favre and could do no wrong. But the moment in time he said he wanted to be a Viking, I washed my hands with him. I remember back when there was a coaching change and he said the he refused to learn a new offense because he was too old to be doing that. So they had to get an offensive coordinator that ran the same offense. I also remember when they'd get a new QB in camp, and Brent told the media that he wasn't going to teach him anything, as he is not a teacher. Oh, I have so many stories I remember reading in the papers and watching the news out of Eau Claire and seeing pieces on this crap. But like I said, we forgave him because he was the Almighty Favre. I'm so sad that I used to think this way ... But I can tell you one thing. It's a consensus amongst my friends that Aaron Rodgers is change you can believe in ... ;D See, it is stuff like that which makes me think highly of Kurt Warner. He got his big break due to an injury to a starter (to whom he never gave the starting job back to), so he knows what can happen to a starting QB if the back-up can do the job. Despite that, he still mentored Eli Manning and does so with Carson Palmer (I assume). I think you mean Matt Leinart. Speaking or Warner he's a big reason why I think the Cardinals are the team in the NFC with the best shot to knock the Saints out of the playoffs. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Mike Shanahan will not be the next head coach of the Cowboys. That should be a shock to nobody. Shanahan and Bill Cowher won't go to a team where they have virtually no say in what players are on the team. And that's why the Cowboys are going to have to settle for coaches like Wade Phillips. Jerry Jones won't give Shanahan and Cowher power.

Not unless perish forbid they go on a Campo-esque streak of five win seasons, which is what it took to get Parcells for a lil bit.
Which royally sucks.

The Redskins obviously don't want to be remembered for being the first team to lose to the Lions. They couldn't beat the Saints, so they they blew up. CONSPIRACY

NFL UK sent out the registry of interest for next year's UK games - as they usually pick an inter-conference game, I looked for the best possible one for next year, and asked for the Colts vs. Cowboys game.

What are the other options? There aren't options, it's a write-in vote. It depends on UK fans actually knowing which teams are meant to play each other next season.

Colts/Cowboys quality wise would be great.
However, both teams sell out pretty easily and season tickets are hard to come by. Neither city's fans would be too pleased. I think up to this point they've avoided taking a home game from a real hardcore, sell out type team. I believe they were Miami, New Orleans (before their recent resurgence and shortly after Katrina) and Tampa Bay. Those fans may still come to games, but they're not Indy or Dallas.

OK serious question here. When people on ESPN are talking about whether the Colts should rest players or go fully for 16-0, why do the detractors always use the 07 Pats as an example? I actually heard someone say "how did that work out for them?". Uh, I don't know, they cruised through the regular season, won two gritty playoff games, then got beat by only one of the most one of a kind spectacular plays in SB history? Sorry, but I don't see how telling Brady and Moss to take a siesta would make a difference in whether Tyree makes that helmet catch or not. It's a stupid argument.

Sorry, but I don't see how telling Brady and Moss to take a siesta would make a difference in whether Tyree makes that helmet catch or not. It's a stupid argument. Patriots players themselves have admitted that the quest for 19-0 consumed them so much that it took away from their on-field performance over the last few weeks of the regular season and the postseason. Meanwhile, Mike Shanahan has said that the best thing that ever happened to the 1998 Broncos was losing to the Giants in week fourteen. He said that once the weight was lifted of going perfect, the Broncos could readjust their focus and put all of their attention squarely on winning the Super Bowl, not just going perfect. I don't think the Colts will finish 19-0, but the players have already admitted that they want it and they're going to go for it. Last week's game in Jacksonville proved that they want to go undefeated. They could have folded up shop and brought in Jim Sorgi late in the fourth quarter, but Manning stayed out there and went for the jugular. If the Colts are in a close game against the Jets or Bills, they're gonna go for it. They won't sit their starters in either game until its a convincing enough lead.

Because nothing says courage like a guy breaking federal laws, and going to an NFL team after getting out of jail. He gets a courage award? How? What? How?

So I was looking at the NFC Playoff picture, and a very interesting scenario popped up. Check this out.
Right now there are 7 teams fighting for 6 spots (yes I realize NO has clinched already, but just bear with me)
Lets assume that all of them win Week 16 except Minnesota. That would mean going into the final week the standings would look like this
1. New Orleans 14-1 (clinched homefield) 2. Philadelphia 11-4 3. Minnesota 11-4 4. Arizona 10-5 5. Green Bay 11-4 6. Dallas 10-5 7. New York 9-6
Now then...look at who plays week 17
New York @ Minnesota Green Bay @ Arizona Philadelphia @ Dallas
They're all playing each other.
Now heres where it just gets bizarre. If New York beat Minnesota, and Arizona beat Green Bay then Dallas would have to beat the Eagles to make the playoffs.
HOWEVER if they beat the Eagles in that scenario they would be the #2 seed and get a first round bye.
How is that for an all or nothing game. Win and you get a first round bye. Lose and you go home.

He screwed up, admitted it, did his time, is apologizing for it and not hiding like others would, that seems pretty courageous to me. I am not saying I like what he did or am glad to see him back in the NFL so soon but, he isn't running from what he did or denying it. He is taking responsibility and, also trying to educate people about what he did so it doesn't happen again.

Yeah I don't see how Vick didn't deserve to win, although if it could go to coaches it should go to Mike Zimmer. I couldn't even begin to imagine what he's had to go through this year.
Oh, and for the handful of Eagle fans on here, McDaniels said that the Broncos defense would be introduced on Sunday, therefore Dawk will get his one last (presumably) entrance in Philly.

I hope Philadelphians have more common sense than to boo a guy who basically gave alot to an organization.....only to have that same organization leave him in the cold in the end, but knowing people at the Eagles game and how they treat guys who while being either from that team or from the city, I think he will get booed.

He lied like a mother f***er until he had no choice and was going to jail anyways. Also, many people would argue he didn't do enough time and I'm one of them. As for apologizing, what else is he going to do? Laugh and tell everyone he'd do it again? The whole world knows what he did, he HAS to apologize or have no more carrer. As for the hiding thing, he can't hide as he's a freaking NFL celebrity. If he was Joe Blow in everyday life I'd be willing to bet money that he'd be hiding like anyone else. Michael Vick hasn't done anything to fix anything on his own. Everything he's done has only been when he absolutly HAD to or when it would 100% cost him his future carrer otherwise. Of course, I hated Vick before all this stuff happened let alone afterwords. So what I say has to be taken with a grain of salt.

And I think you're 10000000000000000000% wrong. You still have fans pissed off that the Eagles didn't overpay him to stay. Hell, all year, fans have been waiting for this game probably just as much as the game next week, just so they get one last chance to thank him. Dawk never got the fairwell he deserved, as most people thought he'd be back with the team. This is the last chance he'll have to walk out of the tunnel in Philly, barring him signing somewhere after Denver (unlikely as he's approaching 40) or making a Trotter-like reappearance (slightly less unlikely, but still so). He's getting a hero's welcome. Very few people actually blamed him for the breakup (and those that did are wrong). The Broncos offered a crazy good deal and the Eagles were stingy. Dawk honestly did the smart thing. He'll get the appreciation for what he gave this city for 13 years. I can't wait to find the video online of him walking out. Now if he picks off a pass or gets a sack? He'll get some boos. But I wouldn't be surprised if there's some cheers thrown in with them.

There was nothing sour on Dawkins's part for the departure, it was all management. The man has a huge heart and left every last bit of himself on the field and was never really overhyped. Weapon X was Superman on the field and Clark Kent off, his nose was always clean and he was a great, great captain for the D. Noone can blame him for leaving and it's definitely safe to assume when he retires, he'll be signed to a one day contract and retire an Eagle. Then he'll eventually go into the HoF as an Eagle. Hell, last year's playoff run was "Do It For Dawk" for Philly fans. Everyone knew he wouldn't be playing forever. Any boos that come for picks or sacks like mentioned, will be directed at managment for letting the man go in the first place. I mean, Dawk gave his two complimentary tickets away to the guy who was fired for posting a comment about how stupid it was to let him go. Oh, and yeah, I'll admit that Dawkins is the main reason I'm a Philly fan. Watching him get a tackle, sack, INT, whatever, was always a thing of beauty and almost always perfectly executed. Even if he didn't make a play, he was right there in the shot nine times out of ten. Yeah, some of that has to do with playing free safety, but the man was an absolute freak.

Yes.
YES.
Brian Dawkins is the absolute man.
His inspired me my entire career, whether it's the way he plays, or the way he believes. What he says, or what he does. It didn't matter, he just did (does) it all.
The day he retires will be a sad sad day, there's only a handful of guys from his lineage left, and he truely is one of a kind. I'm not even a philly/denver fan.
I don't know if he'll make the NFL Hall, but his already made mine.
