- WWE Hall of Famer "Rowdy" Roddy Piper is expected to host Monday Night Raw when it emanates from Madison Square Garden later this month.
-- According to a report today by The Sun, Mickey Rourke says he would like to wrestle for World Wrestling Entertainment after being disallowed from competing at WrestleMania XXV earlier this year. The Academy Award-nominated actor says in his new book, Wrestling With Demons, that a clause in his contract for the Iron Man 2 prevented him from taking part in a one-on-one match with Chris Jericho due to the possibility of injury, which would delay filming. Rourke says he walked away from WrestleMania "disappointed" due to his limited involvement with the event, which saw him punch Jericho following the WWE star's handicap elimination match with Hall of Famers "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat and Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka. Rourke says he wanted to put his wrestling skills to the test after training for the lead role in The Wrestler.

I would love to see Mickey get in the ring. I was hoping it would happen at Wrestlemania. But I wonder if Vince would do it now that The Wrestler has been out for so long.

Mickey is an actor, not a wrestler. Stay on the big screen. Too many nonwrestlers/personalities is what is ruining wrestling. I would rather see a best of DVD of Maria's greatest matches.

If he wants to wrestle sure, go for it. Could maybe do it to cash in on Iron Man 2 when it comes out.
As far as Piper hosting... Sure he'll do a grand job of it, but hard to be interested - can think of plenty of other people, celebrities and wrestlers alike, I'd rather see personally. Maybe it's because Piper pops up so much it's hard to get excited for him showing up.

I would rather have Piper than some B List celeb from a daytime talk show or something.

The only thing against Mickey is his age. The man was a heck of am athlete back in the day, and probably still is. He was a former pro boxer with a great record before going into acting. Also, as I hate to admit it, I fail to see how non wrestlers are ruining wrestling. If by "wrestling" you mean "the integrity of the legitimacy of wrestling", then I see your point, but It's keeping the "integrity of the legitimacy of pro wrestling" that's actually what the bad thing is, because wrestling isn't legit. It's not even wrestling. So doing what you can to "keep it looking legit", including banning celebrities, is actually what's bad.

I'd rather Piper or any wrestling legend host the show than any celebrity. The episode with Ted DiBiase Sr. hosting was outstanding.

Honestly, The Wrestler IMO wasn't all that great and I think it's to far removed for anyone to care anymore. However I'd love Piper as host. Now if The Rock would actually host Raw like he claimed.

Slaughter playing the heel to the Canadians was one of the funniest things on Raw in a long time. Dusty as well was great.

Yes, it seems like he's a wrestling mark, but Mickey wrestling would crap all over the entire message of his movie.
