On 3rd downs the ECU band plays the Undertaker's theme song. It sounded pretty awesome, but would this be a copyright issue?

Probably, but it's such a minor thing I really, really doubt WWE would bother pursuing it.

Are you sure it wasn't just the Funeral March Sonata by Chopin? The one that is the basis for almost all 'Taker themes?

Pretty sure sporting events are covered under fair use laws.
Do you think every artist played at a sporting event gets royalties or gives their permission?
I have heard a lot of wrestling themes at sporting events, BTW.

Vince went to ECU, he probably wouldn't care.

The Cleveland Cavaliers came out to Taker's music in at least one of the games played in San Antonio during the NBA finals against the eventual champion Spurs two years ago.

Did you know: that last week ECU played more WWE songs than any other wrestling songs during their game against VT

Vince went to ECU, he probably wouldn't care. That was my first thought. He and Linda are alumni and donate a lot of cash I believe so I wouldn't see this being a problem.

How apt. Since watching that game was like watching a funeral procession

Believe it or not, the Undertaker's theme is fairly common in sports. I can't count how many times I've heard it over the years; and it's not the ordinary Funeral March. It's his actual theme.

I heard them play The Undertaker's theme as I was walking through a haunted house on Halloween.

I have heard a lot of wrestling themes at sporting events, BTW. Actually no, fair use does permit an unauthorized public performance. Most venues pay a licensing company for a pack of a music to play through the games, a lot of them happen to include WWE themes. So ECU pays like 100,000k/year for music to one person and they take care of all the royalties.
