1994 - The entire year. Started with him dying/resurrecting after the power of the urn was lost, then him fighting himself while the cast of the Naked Gun was looking for him, and ended with Chuck Norris giving Jeff Jarrett a roundhouse kick so Undertaker could get a win against Yokozuna.

The Corporate Ministry was the low point of career. He went from being the Black Scorpion+The Ultimate Warrior+Dracula in awesomeness to being a lacky of Vince. The Ministry was so awesome. It's like, the Angle with Undertaker you've always wanted to see.

That whole segment scared me and it made me think he was a Satanist. It was very convincing; you don't really see that these days. The segment's hilariously over-the-top though. I actually wish they could make Undertaker a threat again. He showed signs of it when he was fighting HBK earlier this year, but they didn't go far enough.

No, I liked it.....and it was about the only way the Dark Side Taker would have been seen as a Heel....once he turned face in 92.

I think that Ministry Taker was a great time for his career...satanism/devil worshipping was a hot topic in the media/society, and the charcter was a great reflection on society.

It's the over the top crap like this that I hate. I hate when this stuff causes people to look at me in a weird way when I say I love wrestling. Why can't it just be presented as a somewhat legit sports contest? We can still have the Austin/Rock and Rock/HHH rivalries, but just without shit like this.

Your probably watching the wrong form of entertainment. One of the main reasons most fans watch wrestling is for the over the top storylines and backstage segments and promos that only a wrestling fan can buy and get into. Your probably more suited to watching MMA then wrestling if you just want 'in ring competition'. I also find it ironic that you complain about backstage over the top segments and you have D.X in your signature .

I love the in-ring action of wrestling like nothing else and I am a huge fan of wrestling. I also love the entertainment aspect of wrestling, but not the over the top stuff like that angle was. I love things like Shawn's promo in Montreal in 2005. Man, he had that crowd right where he wanted them and could control the entire population the arena that night. But that angle was just stupid, in my opinion. I do want my wrestling to retain a certain aspect of realism, even if we know it's worked, but still. It should be portrayred as real, that's the whole point. Two wrestlers being able to work a match so that it seems real is one of my favourite aspects in wrestling. Just last night I watched the HBK/Benoit World title match from Raw in May of 2004. And it was awesome, it seemed like a legit match and both men seemed to try and get a win over the other at any cost. That's what I like. I hate it when someone criticizes anything about wrestling here and the first thing you're gonna get is someone yelling "Well, you don't have to watch! Watch MMA if you don't like the entertainment!" Well, I LOVE the entertainment. Some of the entertainment just absolutely sucks, in my opinion. Like DX drowning The Spirit Squad in poop. I mean, come on. And the 1997 HBK-led DX was very entertaining. Two obnoxious morons getting in everybody's faces and pissing everybody off, without the need of embalming or anything. I don't why it's ironic that I didn't enjoy the embalming angle and have HBK in my signature.

It is oly remembered as a "low point" because he failed. If Taker had successfully embalmed Stone Cold, it would have been the highest point of the year, especially when Austin managed to come down to ringside the following Raw and attack Taker with ambalming fluid seeping from his pores.

I didn't question 'your love for wrestling' however what I did say is that many fans enjoy the over the top storyline back stages segments and gimmicks. It is a huge part of wrestling and a reason they have moved from WWF to WWE dropping wrestling from there name to entertainment. I love a good solid match however I also love over the top storylines, gimmicks and angles and just about every other fan who watches the product watches fro both of those reasons. It makes it a lot more entertaining and without it wrestling would not be as entertaining. The reason the fans were all over HBKs promo in Montreal was because of Survivor Series 1997 and his personal as well as professional history with Bret Hart. The reason wrestling was portrayed as real before the 90's and early 90;s was everyone still thought wrestling was real. Now that 'the cat is out of the bag; they move with the times. I like to 'suspend my imagination' while watching wrestling and pretend it;s real. However for them to still be treating it as a legit sport in this day and age when everyone knows it is scripted would be insulting the fans intelligence more than anything. Keyfabe does not exist like it used to do. Early D.X did have there fair shore of over the top storyline, angles and segments and you have D.X HBK in your signature along with Chyna.

Yes, kayfabe is dead, but it doesn't mean that it would necessarily need to be an insult to a fan's intelligence if they were to try to put wrestling over as a real sport, even for a little bit. I don't mean that the wrestling companies should try to trick us into thinking that it is a shoot sport, but rather just try bring down to earth. WCW did this well around 96-97.

I think the angle was great, and I laughed hysterically at it. I wanted to see how sadistic Taker would get, dragging him from the hospital, taking him to the grave, then trying to embalm him alive. I still don't get why Kane would save Austin, but whatever. This was right before he became full blast Ministry Taker. That was the only incarnation of Taker that I didn't like as much.

It was nice of Paul and Taker to give the camera men directions to the funeral home so they could get there before and set up their shot.

Having them chasing the hearse and peaking the camera through a crack in the door would have added at least SOME believability to these ridiculous, over the top segments. My rule is you never want to allow a camera crew to film you while you are committing murder.

Kinda dumb, but entertaining, like alot of things in the AEra. That's where all entertainment was at in the late 90s. We had stuff like Tom Green and Celebrity Deathmatch and all these weird goth kind of movies, as well as industrial music. Edgy stuff, but kind of silly in retrospect. The WWF fit with the times back then, and honestly it does now with how corporate and safe it is. Anyone else get a Tales from the Crypt vibe from this whole thing?
