One thing this thread made me realize: Festus would be completely useless in a stable.
Especially a WCW stable. In fact, he probably would have just had a seizure the first time he ran down during the end of any random Nitro and been forced to retire.

I loved it in WCW when they would do that. nWo would brawl for like ten minutes while the bell kept ringing, it reached comic levels. These were awesome. I liked when brawls would go on for a very extended period, while the bell would still ring periodically. Was the timekeeper bored after a while? After the 150th ring..."seriously guys, quit it".

I expect the bell to be rung. I wait anxiously....and then DING DING DING!
The bell itself's been about a bit. I liked when Bret used it against Austin at WM13.
And guest time keepers always make me laugh. "Ring the bell!" Or when people sub for the bell. Hearing Austin yell DING DING DING! (usually 3 rings...am I right?) made me smile.

I want some heel that's beating down a face to get pissed at the timekeeper, stop the beatdown, get in the timekeeper's face, and yell "I'M NOT STOPING FOR YOUR F****** BELL! WE NEVER STOP FOR THE BELL!"

I'd love to see the time-keeper throw a temper tantrum after ringing the bell for 2-3 minutes to no avail. Just stand up, throw his little hammer down, and yell- tears flowing from his eyes- "Well you know what? Then screw you, screw you, and screw you! Armstrong, you're still cool." And walk away. And for the rest of the night, the ring announcer has to get on the microphone and say "Ding ding" into it to note the beginning and end of the contests. How about they clock both guys with the bell, and he stands over them and yells "When the bell rings, that means stop!" After that he storms off, and it's never mentioned again.

I've always wanted someone to grab the bell from the timekeeper and yell "STOP IT! IF THAT RINGING DIDN'T STOP ME THE FIRST TIME, WHY WOULD IT STOP ME THE 50,000 TIMES YOU RANG IT!!!!?" I'm suprised that has never happened before ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

Hell, that would be a good way to debut a wrestler.

It would be hilarious if the bell ringing actually got the wrestlers to stop brawling like they think their going to get in trouble and they all turn and look at the time keeper and the camera closes in on him and we see him standing their ringing the bell with a stern look of authority on his face.

They're pretending to be Richard Dominick.

Honestly even if after a while it makes no sense I love it as it adds to the chaos of a bell.
There were men everywhere throwing punches a bell was ringing and a bell was riding a tricycle.

I think it's just to indicate that there's absolute pandemonium going on in the ring and rile the fans up. Maybe they're kayfabe-hoping someone in the back will hear the bell's frantic cry and run out to see what's the matter.
