As much as WCW seems to have ripped off the WWF in its later years (i.e. Asya, Buzz Kill, etc.), it often gets overlooked that the creative lifting swung both ways. So what are some examples of this?
One that often gets overlooked is how obviously influenced the Mr. McMahon character was by Bischoff's on air persona. Well it wasn't flat out stealing and Vince had dabbled in the evil boss role before (USWA), it is tough to deny the similarities.

The really half-assed attempt to create a Light Heavyweight Division in 1997.

I say they ripped off ECW more than they ripped off WCW.

The really half-assed attempt to create a Light Heavyweight Division in 1997. It really had potential, too. With guys like TAKA and Aguila and a bunch of young high flyers, it could have been good. But it suuuure wasn't. I can't believe that the title didn't go defunct until 2001.

I have never understood the DX/nWo ripoff idea. 2 1/2 guys being obnoxious jackasses =/=3 guys trying to take over a company.

I have never understood the DX/nWo ripoff idea. 2 1/2 guys being obnoxious jackasses =/=3 guys trying to take over a company. Same here. nWo might or might not have influenced the decision to go for the stable wars that populated the late 90's WWF, but in no way were they ripped off.

NWO focused on taking over the company, DX focused more on dick jokes and crotch chops.

The Ministry Of Darkness was more a rip off of nWo if you think about it.

NWO focused on taking over the company, DX focused more on dick jokes and crotch chops. The crotch chop and juvenile humor was one thing they had in common, though not sure either was ripping off the other. More like a Clique-wide thing, and two fourths of the Cliq just happened to work for the other company. As far as creative lifting....well, they both used to do similar angles back when I was a kid watching NWA/WCW and the WWF. For example, if Sting were facing a big huge challenger like Vader, Hogan would be, too. Both were blonde crowd favorites from Venice Beach, CA..... *shrug*

if this was the other way around I would say WCW ripped off WWE with adding a hardcore title

GILLLLLLLLBEEEEERRRRRRGGGG That was a parody though. Yeah, but essentially so was Buzzkill, which often gets touted as a "WWF ripoff" when it was just a storyline where Russo forced Brad Armstrong to come up with a personality like his brother. Anyway, I'd say Smackdown itself was a ripoff of Thunder, right down to the color theme.

Nitro was live every week and went to 2 hours before Raw. Who used the figure four first, Greg Valentine, Ronnie Garvin, or Ric Flair? I mean, at one point you had a blonde guy doing the figure four in the WWF, and one doing it in the WCW as a finisher as well. Would that be considered a ripoff?
