They were still screaming for Jeff Hardy, and he's older than Morrison. Jeff Hardy is not, and never was, man-gorgeous. Especially not to the extent Morrison is. Morrison could very easily make that the basis of a gimmick. For what it's worth, he's the same age as Shawn Michaels in '95, which was right when HBK started being elevated to the main event. This comparison has come up before, and again, Michaels was (and still is) a short, hairy Kermit-man. If Morrison weren't wrestling, he should be in black-and-white Calvin Klein commercials (he actually filmed a fake one last year). He's that damn pretty of a pretty boy, and that doesn't stay around forever. Just because HBK wasn't exactly a model didn't mean females didn't swoon over him regardless. Where do you think all the screaming in the crowds was coming from when he was still doing the Chippendales-esque act? As for Morrison.. He may not remain "man-gorgeous" the way he is now for the next forever, but it's not as if his looks are going to deteriorate to the point where women will be revolted by his image. As long as he keeps his hair long, and keeps himself in the shape he's in (or close enough to it), he will keep women swooning like they're still in high school.

I think he's real close.
One thing I think he could improve on are his babyface promos...they seem to lack bite so he either needs to sharpen that up or just stick to being a heel.

He already is for the most part, but he's still missing something when it comes to his character. They really need to let him talk more, and they also need to let him be more of himself as he was on the Dirt Sheet. There are enough generic babyfaces with fighting spirit. Let him be John Morrison, the Guru of Greatness from the Palace of Wisdom. That's the guy who will get over.

He already is, but he's just missing that one trademark feud that we can look back on years later and say "that's where it started". Him making Ziggler his job boy doesn't count.

I really think Chris Jericho could do this for him. Jericho makes mediocre wrestlers look great, so he'd make a great wrestler like Morrison look like fried gold. It would just need to be a feud that mattered, and not just a series of matches. They'd need a real angle.

I say by around Summerslam. I say give him a bit more time before they push him to the next level. I say the same with the Miz. I'd give them another year or so to accomplish a bit more so they can be legit future main eventers. I think they might be pushing Kofi way too quick really. He's been pretty good to me lately since he cut that promo about 3 weeks ago or so with the racecar. But I don't think hes accomplished enough yet to be near main event level yet.

I thought he was all set to go and the Miz feud was gonna cap off his midcard run. I thought he could beat Miz, have a personal, non-championship feud with a main eventer (Batista or Punk) he'd lose and get "injured" so he could drop the IC belt without losing (this could set off a tournament scramble on Smackdown for the next IC champion and give Drew, R Truth, etc a sense of purpose), He'd leave a while. Then that main eventer he was feuding with eventually gets the strap and bam, Morrison comes back, wins a non title match and blammo, he's number 1 contender in a title match against some heel maineventer. He has the HBK moment of glory, wins the match and there you go. Or at least that's how I saw it. I agree with every last turn of this post. This is how it should've been. With Big Show, Mysterio, and Undertaker both completely banged up and "Big" Dave Batista apparently considering retirement, this really should already have happened. With Mysterio out the company needs a new top babyface and they really should've been building Morrison up for it.

I think he's ready for the main event just based on his ring work, and his promos will come along when he's in better feuds. His work with the Miz was good, I want to see him in more personal rivalries with more on the line, that will make him step up his mic work or get left behind and I think he'll step it up.

Like you said, the man can barely cut a promo -- when he can, he shouldn't need to rely on something simple/easy lost like looks. And Michaels looked fine in 1995. You have a distorted view on what makes a viable character.

He's alright. But theres something about him where I think he's missing "it". In the Survivor Series match, almost every other guy in the match had more charater then him. Maybe a move to Raw or a haircut. Maybe a heel turn with a decent manager... who knows.

He needs big wins against main eventers. Him and Shawn Michaels could have some great matches. He needs a lot of mic work. His promos aren't main event worthy yet. If this were the old days, I would put him with Bobby Heenan. He is very Rick Rude-esk. I also don't buy him as a face at all.
I'd say two more years.
