Very tricky booking situation on the Blue show with the company wanting to protect Morrison, but apparently not ready to put him in the main event. The obvious matchup will be heel "Big" Dave Batista with the strap putting Morrison over. If the buildup is good enough and the match is good enough, that could be a pretty successful way to hotshot him into the main event/world title picture. I really feel like the longer he has the IC title and wrestles Ziggler/Knox, the farther he slips away from being in the main event. On one hand, it's pretty well-documented that he's not really the world's greatest promo man. On the other hand, the guy just turned 30 this year, so his looks are going to go downhill from here. The girlies won't keep screaming for him forever.

When he learns how to sound natural in his promos and not like he's reading off a teleprompter.

i think he is now, but when WWE feels he is ready is a different story. If Batista can be a main eventer, then anybody can do it.

He was three months or so ago after the mini-feud with Punk and the match with Jeff. Now...when Taker is gone.

I dont *quite* think he's there yet. He needs a 'Kofi' moment/promo to really nudge him over the top

He IS ready.
He just needs a breakout feud. Putting on great matches and winning cleanly is only going to get you so far in WWE land without an engaging feud or storyline.

Needs to successfully feud with Batista.
It doesn't even need to be elaborate. Batista is running around being a jerk right now. Have Batista just run in for no reason during some Morrison match and beat Morrison up really badly. Batista can just give some bad reason like he doesn't like pretty boys trying to hog his spotlight or something, really doesn't matter.
Have him do it the show before a PPV where he wins the world title in fact. Let Batista successfully get the title before Morrison gets to confront him about it...and now you have a Batista/Morrison title feud.

I think if 'Taker would have stayed out of action for a while longer - we'd seen Morrison in the main event scene by now. With Jeff Hardy gone and Jerishow doing the taggy scene, Morrison would have been the next choice to challenge Punk for the WHC. Morrison is a thorn in Punk's side. He's got a lot of W's over Punk and it would have made for some interesting matches to watch them fued over the title.

Whenever they decide to give him a big programme with either Punk or Jericho (preferably Punk given their history) is when he'll be ready, I'd say. He hasn't really had any stand-out moments as a babyface besides the ocassional good match. If the cards are dealt right however, 2010 could be the year of the JoMo.

If Rey's really going to be out for a while, that'll make Morrison Smackdown's #2 babyface for the forseeable future. Should give him the opportunity to work with someone higher up the card and keep his push going.
For what it's worth, he's the same age as Shawn Michaels in '95, which was right when HBK started being elevated to the main event.

The girlies won't keep screaming for him forever. They were still screaming for Jeff Hardy, and he's older than Morrison. Jeff Hardy is not, and never was, man-gorgeous. Especially not to the extent Morrison is. Morrison could very easily make that the basis of a gimmick. For what it's worth, he's the same age as Shawn Michaels in '95, which was right when HBK started being elevated to the main event. This comparison has come up before, and again, Michaels was (and still is) a short, hairy Kermit-man. If Morrison weren't wrestling, he should be in black-and-white Calvin Klein commercials (he actually filmed a fake one last year). He's that damn pretty of a pretty boy, and that doesn't stay around forever.

The girlies won't keep screaming for him forever. I don't think the guy's ever gonna be main event material, at least not at the rate he's going. His whole look and swag scream midcard now. remember when he first debuted this gimmick, and they really played up how much he looked and acted like Jim Morrison? That's when I could've bought him as an upper-carder. Ever since he teamed up with Mizanin they reverted to this more...I dunno how to put it. This more awkward, supposedly elitist persona with no real aim. Then they even broke that down when he turned face. Honestly, for all the complaints of how bad he is on the mic, he really isn't. He just isn't particularly good, which isn't that big of a deal. All he needs is to have somebody with some cred try to sell him. Faces can have managers, right?

Faces can have managers, right? No one can have the "classical" manager in the WWE these days, or so it seems anyway.

I thought he was all set to go and the Miz feud was gonna cap off his midcard run. I thought he could beat Miz, have a personal, non-championship feud with a main eventer (Batista or Punk) he'd lose and get "injured" so he could drop the IC belt without losing (this could set off a tournament scramble on Smackdown for the next IC champion and give Drew, R Truth, etc a sense of purpose), He'd leave a while. Then that main eventer he was feuding with eventually gets the strap and bam, Morrison comes back, wins a non title match and blammo, he's number 1 contender in a title match against some heel maineventer. He has the HBK moment of glory, wins the match and there you go. Or at least that's how I saw it.
