I've discussed this with my brother last night, and I explained why I thought Undertaker/Batista doesn't work. I stated that the reason is their feuds are generally focused on one thing and one thing only: the World Heavyweight Championship. While there were some hints of animosity, including the beatdowns, the reason is that it's more of a "I want that belt" type of animosity, rather than anything else.
While Batista is a heel right now, it's still going to be for the same thing, and nothing will change from that.
What other feuds that have been used consistantly do you feel are just a big waste?

That's another good example. I mean, you can call back to 2004, when Orton won the WHC belt and they did the bad face turn. However, things have been botched so many times, and there isn't any forgone conclusion, it's always a bad sight to see the two encounter each other again and again.

Would John Cena vs the Big Show count?

Would John Cena vs the Big Show count? It could. Personally, there hasn't been a meaningful encounter outside of either the U.S., World Heavyweight, or WWE Championships. Since the point of Cena/Big Show is generally for a belt, there isn't much there.

I'd like to note I love Batista vs. Undertaker but I'll say Truth vs. McIntyre seemed pointless

For some reason I don't enjoy feuds like HHH vs. John Cena. Yes it's a huge money maker, but they haven't put out that great matches. They are enjoyable, but not really amazing.

Undertaker/Batista usually works from an in-ring standpoint. Their matches have been fun at the very least.

Agreed, most of these type of "epic" encounters (Cena/Orton, Triple H/Orton, Cena/Triple H, Cena/Batista) merely end up being "good enough, 3 star quality" affairs almost every time. When it comes to the main event, good enough isn't good enough, and the fans are starting to see through the smoke and mirrors.

Rey vs. Chavo always bored me for some reason.

Jeff Hardy vs. Matt Hardy (The 2001 version) just killed a great deal of their momentum, and the crowds, despite perhaps Matt playing the heel, did not know who to go for in that feud.

Cena vs. Angle and Cena vs. Jericho in 2005 both should have been good, but neither one came off as anything special at all.

At the start of the Angle Cena feud in 2005 I personally didn't care much because Id seen them fight a number of times before. But by the end myself (and most of the crowd it sounded) were after Cena's blood. It was the height of Cena hate imo, the young kids wanted the belt on Cena and so did WWE but the smarter fans wanted Angle, arguarbly the best wrestler in the world, as Champion. Because he was real and the fans knew it. Hence Angle's quote "I've got more talent in my little finger than you've got in your whole entire body". And everybody knew it.

CM Punk vs. Undertaker didn't work at all, Punk's angle on the whole thing (drugged up zombies actually believing in the magic tricks and smoke and mirrors of Taker) was far-fetched, the matches weren't very good, and Taker just looked too dominant. Sometimes the way each guy is booked can make a feud suck, chickenshit heel vs. unstoppable (but hobbled) supernatural force did not goo well.

That was probably the worst World Title feud since Khali vs. Batista.

heel Matt Hardy vs anyone not named Jeff Hardy Personally I don't think any of the Matt vs Jeff matches were anything to write home about. They surprisingly just don't gel that well.

I'm seeing a whole lot of "Cena vs." for a guy who's suppose to be the "Biggest star of the Decade"
