The thing that really annoyed me was them not atleast trying to pay to use the scratch logo on the WM set, and not getting the rights to the songs. If your gonna charge so much money, atleast make it worth it. If not then you dont really have as much a right to get mad when people download old PPVs, because thats the only way you can get the real original broadcast.
Also if they do have to hide the logo, they should have atleast done it better. If people are paying money they should take the time to make it the least distracting they possibly can...

I really don't understand why the scratch logo has to be blurred, but the block logo is a-okay. I mean, they both mean the exact same thing, what's the significance of one over the other? Scratch logos don't remind me of endangered species, wtf? The block logo already existed and was covered by the agreement, but the scratch logo wasn't and the way it was promoted during the Attitute era was what broke the agreement.

They should just find some way to digitally edit it so that all the shots of the wwf scratch logo can be changed to the wwe logo.

The big question is, why are they still using a variant of the scratch logo? WWE has almost no link to Attitude left. Why did they lose the rights to My Time?

Why would you donate to the WWF. It is groups like that that say that polar bears are going extinct even though the number of polar bears have increased in the last few years. citation needed. Complaining about the blurs is like complaining about the rain. Yeah, it kind of annoying, but there's nothing you can do about it and it's not even a small deal. IT wan't WWF that made that claim but AL Gore in "An Inconvinent Truth". He got called out on that publically.

I must admit that reports of heavy blurring put me off buying The Rock DVD set. The only WWE discs I usually buy are the tagged classics which are unaffected mostly so it's hard to adjust to this.
It's one of the reasons that I didn't sell my VHS collection when I had the chance (can't give them away by this point) and still have several boxes of TV recordings.

I sometimes think wrestling fans have some sort of "battered wife syndrome," where they keep defending the person that wronged them. If George Lucas decided that all future version of Star Wars would have Darth Vader blurred and every mention of the Empire bleeped, would you be saying "well the movie's still mostly good"?

Fine, but what the alternative? It's not like Vince is f***in' doing it on purpose. He's not keeping the "good shit" for Blu-Ray or something. That's the way it has to be. So, if you can figure out a way to release the footage through WWE Home Video, unedited, without paying a cent in royalties or blurs.....please tell Vince and the WWE. I'll snap those DVDs up in a minute.

I'm just hoping that they still have the original cuts of these shows (with no blurs and unedited commentary) in case they ever come to an agreement over archive footage with the Wildlife Fund.

He may not have planned it, but he sure didn't fight very hard against it. I'm not an expert on the legal issues, but it seems like he could have easily found a sympathetic judge. The thought of owning three letters is absolutely ridiculous and having to edit existing footage is even more ridiculous. I think it's mostly Vince's laziness that causes all the editing. The fact is that Vince has zero artistic integrity and thinks that wrestling fans will buy his DVDs no matter how much he butchers the footage. And apparently, he's right.

Scratch logos don't remind me of endangered species, wtf? I believe it's because the scratch logo and what WWE did with it is what broke the previously mentioned agreement with the Fund. Actually from what I've understood from reading up on it, the Fund wanted to charge them seperstely to use the Block logo and the Scratch logo. They played hardball, and Vince didn't want to pay to use his own trademarks....ergo the blurring. Also there was some argument over the use of the URL "WWF.Com" that was won by the Panda Folks in the suit. They promptly did.....abso-freakin'-lutely nothing with and was picked up by a web-squatter.

Vince McMahon should've gave them money to change their name. It would've been worth it in the long run.

The fact is that Vince has zero artistic integrity and thinks that wrestling fans will buy his DVDs no matter how much he butchers the footage. And apparently, he's right. I dunno, let's look at it from Vince's point of view. Starting with the fact judges are assigned cases and you don't get to pick your own judge. 1. Take the World Wildlife Fund to court over the initials WWF. Have a long court procedure. Pay your awesome lawyer tons of money. Maybe reach agreement where you have to pay to use own initials. Maybe lose because you actually broke the agreement you already had over the initials. 2. Don't take them to court. Pay for simple name change. Have existing production crew blur stuff out at no extra charge. Option two is practically free. It's why Ventura's commentary rarely gets used.....costs less to have your guys just edit him out than it does to pay him to do it. Please understand, I want those shows unedited as well. I'd love it. I'm not disagreeing with that point.
