...according to Chicago DJ Steve Dahl.
And the aftermath, which saw Harry Caray and the owner of the White Sox pleading with the fans to return to their seats to no avail...
...that resulted in one of the few times that a baseball game had to be forfeited.
Please note that I'm not trying to start an anti-disco rally.

Thirty years later and this is still one of the most intriguing and infamous moments in Chicago baseball history. This summer was the thirtieth anniversary of this and I know that the Tribune ran a huge column on Disco Demolition Night. This was six years before I was born, but I know that had I been alive for this, I probably would have gone out on old Comiskey.
My dad, who was eighteen when this happened, was at his brother's wedding reception that night and told me that somebody told him that there was a riot at Comiskey in between the games. He tells me now that this really wasn't out of the ordinary, as evidenced by at least two of the stories he has told me about going to games at Old Comiskey.
Isn't it weird to think that this would happen at a ball game thirty years ago and now it would be completely unheard of?

I hate disco and events like this only reinforced the fact that Americans were getting sick of disco.
Now, if only they'd riot over bad rock bands like Hoobastank, Papa Roach and Nickelback. Hell, I'd like to see people stomp all over jewel cases full of Lady Gaga's latest gag-inducing album.

I love Steve Dahl. I'm thinking about writing a comedy based around that night.

I've seen more fights at baseball games in the last twenty years than just about any other sport besides Hockey.
