Glad you enjoyed it, Toom. The only reference to the Sizzler that I know of is in Ghostbusters II, but it's good to know that Golden Corral and Sizzler are still in existence, and holding their own.
Too bad there's neither within 100 miles of myself. If I want a buffet meal, I either get to go to the local Chinese joint or the Hong Kong joint (which has been busted several times for health code violations), or drive 45 miles (one way, mind you), to the Country Buffet, which serves food that I find bland, boring, and extremely predictable.
Shrimp should not be tough, dammit!

The food is well prepared, presentation (even in a steam table, that's important, since we eat with our eyes first) is good. It's not ultra high end, but it's clear the cooks/chefs are at least taking some pride in what they're putting out. And their ad campaign has been cracking me up for a year or so. Buffets get a bad rap, but Golden Corral, at least in my experience, is an example of how a buffet setup can be run well and provide a good dining experience.

I think I may have been to the Sizzler you went to.
If not, I know where it is.

When I was growing up, my parents always took us to Ponderosa Steakhouse. Sadly, they too have all disappeared, being replaced by Chinese Buffets or just decaying away now. There's Golden Corral's nearby still, although the Old Country Buffets (not a fan) nearby have gone the way of the dodo, but its just not the same.
Glad you got to relive a part of your childhood. I still miss my macaroni and cheese meals at Ponderosa....

Old Country here has stepped up their game & improved TREMENDOUSLY because Golden Corral opened across the street. Both are good for me.
And Ponderosa....*sigh* I do miss them, too!

I used to eat at Ponderosa all the time as a kid when I lived in Kentucky.
Then one time my family went back on a visit and Ponderosa suddenly stunk on ice.
I love Golden Corral but it's too expensive these days. Before they started building in Phoenix, we'd go up to Prescott (halfway between here and Flagstaff) just to eat there.
ETA: Oh yeah... both Old Country and its sister franchise, Hometown Buffet, suck major.

At the end of the movie it showed the mom destroying Sizzler and saying next time she was going to Denny's Where I live there are actually two Golden Corrals. Never been there though. We do not have any Sizzlers around here though.

Not something I'll watch on a consistent basis, though.

The Sizzler in my neck of the woods is in "the other town, across the highway", and is solely filled with old people, but it's definitely delectable.

I remember Sizzler fondly from when I went to Florida when I was about 10. I loved that place.
