Is anyone here obsessed with working out? I've been going to the gym for about 2 years now, but until recently I was kind of just going through the motions when I was there. I got some good results, but feel I could have spent my time in the gym a lot better. Recently I thought to myself I want to get into great shape and stop eating unhealthy crap, and cutting out drinking a lot of soda so I can be in really good shape. Now i'm starting to become a bit obsessed with getting into great shape and eating a lot more healthy. Is there anyone else who feel this way?

I have a membership at the local fitness center. I make use of it when I have the time. It's really, really, bright in there, and there are mirrors on every wall. On peak hours, I find myself amongst yelling, screaming, muscle dummies. I'm definitely not the biggest guy there. I am intimidated.
With a dedicated workout regimen, and a bit of luck, by the end of the year I might end up with the body of a young Rey Mysterio.
I still have yet to use the shower. I can't. I won't.

I never ever use the shower at the gym. I just take one when I go home.

I hate working out. Always have, always will. Hated it in the Army, and hate it now. BUT I still do it. Gotta stay strong.

I really like that sore muscle feeling you get afterwards... if I had the free cash I'd join a gym. As it stands I work out with my roommate's kettle bells occasionally.

I have a load of workout stuff at home (weights, dumbells, kettlebell, tire & sledge hammer) which I used almost everyday until last November when I came ill. Then I hurt my back and i've kind of stopped. I'm starting again at the end of January so hopefully my fire will come back.

Working out a lot is fine but you also have to remember that if you work out too much it can hurt your health in the long run. I hate these "Get Ripped in 30 days" advertisements everywhere. Getting ripped is not exactly healthy. It serves almost no purpose and can actually hurt some people.

Okay this one is true. Although most people who are good looking usually don't go for the freakishly ripped people because they look like freaks.

Absolutely. I'm a 185-pound ripped machine.
Problem is, I weigh 235.

I'm just getting back myself. Trying to get back to three times a week, but time is never on my side. That, and I've come to realize that P90X is for skinny guys that got fat, not guys that have been big all their lives.

I used to be obsessed with it. Now I'm just whatever about it, and do some light stuff like a 15 minute jog, then 100 pushups, 200 situps, and 50 squats per day. I don't eat much so it keeps me fit with little time.

I'm not a gym member or a workour fiend by any means, but I like to stay somewhat active, if only to keep relatively fit.
What a don't get is some folks I know who would pay to join a gym but use a snowblower instead of an old-fashioned shovel to clear their driveways.

I'd say so
I used to go twice a week to lose weight, which I did. I'm at just under 150lb now
Then over a year ago I started going every other Saturday when I wasn't at a footie game, since I gave up the season ticket, I'm there 3 times a week and if I go several days without it like I did over Christmas & NY, I get cranky
I do want to tone my stomach some as I still have a slight gut but I refuse to give up my irn-bru as well as various other unhealthy stuff which to be honest is most of my diet

I don't work out because I like to, I work out because I don't want to be fat. One thing that motivates me to keep going is looking at hot chicks around the gym. I think to myself "See that? Keep pumping iron until she comes to you."

I work out in spurts. Mostly of the anaerobic variety.

I've been working out continuously since October 08, which is the longest uninterrupted stretch of working out in my life. And I'm close to breaking the 190 lb mark in the downward direction for the first time since I was a kid. I'm 5'10"-ish and have a really broad build, so the 190 isn't bad. I'm wearing 33x34 jeans and medium tees.
I do need to work out a number of times each week for my sanity/mental health, too. So I get where you (OP) are coming from. The food part isn't too bad because a) I can cook, b) I like to cook, c) I understand nutrition, and d) I generally hate junk food and don't eat it (exceptions: really good salt-and-vinegar chips and peanut M&Ms).
And I must either be lucky or have low standards, because I always shower at the gym. The idea of being in my gym clothes and sweaty any longer than necessary is awful.
