Yesterday I happened by my roommate watching an early episode of Star Trek: The next Generation. The one where there's a type of McGuffin radiation that basically makes people drunk, it's actually a throwback episode to the original Star Trek series.
I vaguely remember the episode and I asked, "Wait, why does it effect Data?" and he said well they kind of explained since he has pores and skin it effects him too.
Now, I love TNG I think it's one of the best written science fiction shows I've ever watched, BUT sometimes I got the feeling that someone would write a story and the question would come up "Hey why does that particular McGuffin effect Data he's a godamned robot!" the writer would just say "Well it effects him too it effects androids OK?".
Not a big gripe just a nitpick about an otherwise great show.
