Meaning no disrespect to my family, who I do love to see, one of the best parts of my christmas was on the times bickering broke out between people down stairs I'd slip away to my bedroom to hide. On christmas eve I found my brother had purchased a few PS2 games while I've been away at uni, including the punisher, I was I think at least vaguely aware this had come out but dismissed it at the time as being nothing more than a lame movie tie-in, but it was actually awesome.
Its more rooted in the marvel universe than I thought and you get some cool team ups and cameos. Theres also a cool epilouge suggesting a sequel. Anyone know if this is happening? It felt to me like a comic book style max payne. Anyone else remember/played this?

Awesome, awesome game. It's one of those videogames which is released because of the movie, but has absolutely nothing to do with the movie. Kind of like Mission Impossible for the N64 or Wolverine's revenge for the GBA. And they really stand on their own as great games (even though Wolverine was just alright and fun).
I love that game and still play it at times.

Is that the game where you can capture people and torture them? And some of the scenes are so "gruesome" they had to go black and white to even get an MA rating? For instance, you hold someone under a rack of knives and shake it to make them squeal and, after obtaining the information, you get to off them anyway and shake the knives off into their face?
If so, I agree, it was a pretty entertaining game that was much better than the crap they tried to push out on PlayStation Network and Live recently.

i like the one guy by the truck gates that says he knows nothing...then when your walking later on you hear somebody on the phone going "really? he bought that you were a truck driver??" so you walk back to where you met the guy before and he sees you and yells out "OH SHIT!!" and i shoot him....so many good heel moments...plus the funeral parlor level is awesome!

How about that guy you have to "rescue" from his cell at the mob mansion, until you find out that he's there because he was a drug dealer. ;D Fun game. Too short for me, but who didn't love to replay that level at the zoo, and let the Rhino run through gory that henchman repeatedly?

Whatever system I had it on, it was a fun time. I usually ended up killing the people I tortured, just because it seemed the right thing to do. But you never really got penalized for it, so it didn't take away from the fun factor. Much funner than the Reign of Fire movie tie in game they had for the PS2. I had thought, "How can you snork up a game where you ride around in a vehicle killing dragons and can play as a dragon in later episodes?" I got my answer as soon as I put it into my system. It sucked that I bought it right before Christmas, because 2 months later it had dropped 20 bucks. A couple of months after that, I could have picked it up for 5 bucks.

I was always too late to pull the guy back.

This was one of my all time favorite PS2 titles! Favorite kills/Levels:
Lucky's bar- just slaughtering every single inhabitant brings love and joy to me!
Aztek kill- I think this was in the museum or something...the voice girl goes on and on about how the Azteks sacrafised people...and the Punisher goes through it again!
The Funeral- An absolute blast of a mission until the end boss and trying to hunt his dumbass down to kill him.
The Gnucci Mansion/Killing Bushwacker- Even though you don't get to control the kill like you do for so many other special kills, I still love the way you take out Bushwacker. Of course it's followed by an awesome Punisher quote: "I don't smile...I never smile. But if I did, this would be one time." Killing Ma Gnucci is pretty brutal and awesome as well.
