Troubled comic Artie Lange landed in the hospital after stabbing himself nine times in an apparent suicide attempt, sources told The Post. Lange's frantic mom called 911 Saturday morning after she entered his Hoboken apartment and found the bloodied funnyman, a law-enforcement source said.

Awful, awful news. As a huge fan of Artie and the Stern Show, I'm saddend by this news. I know Artie has some serious problems and he needs to get some help. I can only hope this episode leads to Artie getting some help and getting his head on straight.

The Stern show is not the same without him, but I doubt we'll see him back on the show for a long time, if ever. I just wish Artie could get his problems behind him and live a normal life.

Dammit, Artie.

I am unfamiliar with his work on the Stern show, but I loved his role in Dirty Work and his cameo in Old School, so I would definitely consider myself a fan.

I don't know what he's going through, but it must hurt like hell emotionally for him to do something like this. I've been there, so I can kinda relate, but it's so, so important that he get the help he needs.

Addiction is a monster that few people can conquer alone. Get rehab, get counseling, take as much time as you need, Artie - just get better.

As a loyal Stern show listener,I've been so aggravated with Artie over the past couple of years,but I'll agree that the show isn't the same without him.if this is true,it sucks to hear and I hope he doesn't come back unless he's totally good to go.

i have noticed in the past year he has let himself go..he's heavily drinking and doing drugs i think and i know he doesn't seem happy so it seemed to me only a matter of time before he attempted suicide or died a tragic death because he is really heading that way

The Post article says it was three deep cuts, and six "hesitation-type" cuts.

Either way, as a huge fan of both the Stern Show and Artie's acting and stand-up work, this hits hard. I was listening to Stern today, and when Howard refused to read the article, I was pissed, but after reading it, I can see why he wouldn't. Get well soon, Artie.
