A better question IMO is "When did "When did the Simpsons jump the shark?" threads jump the shark here at Wrestlecrap? ...and there's the obligatory "boo too many negative Simpsons threads" response. They jumped the shark at whichever time they decided to change Homer from a slightly slow-witted father to a full on retard.

Better question is when did Jumped the Shark Jump the Shark? I just blew you minds. when people forgot the meaning behind the term and just started saying "this show sucks now, it jumped the shark"

I said around the end of Season 11 when Saddlesore Galactica aired. I may be the only one who likes that episode. Sure, it made no sense but it had a number of good jokes. To this day when I go to a concert I randomly scream at the band to play Taking Care of Business. And I agree with the guy above me. The quality has dipped, but they seem to put on a number of good shows each season. No you're not. I love the episode. Sure, it makes no sense either, but it's funny. And just as you use the "Taking Care of Business" gag, I always use the "if you lose, we're going to the glue factory...and you won't get to come." line.

Kinda depressing the generation born after the turn of the century may never know "good" Simpsons i.e. genuinely good ones as opposed to just watchable.

Simpsons is kind of like a dull diamond these days if anything. It's still good, just not as shinny as it used to be, 20 years will do that to any show I guess. I would have to agree with this.

I've read a few times that Bart the Mother is the "JTS" episode. I always assumed this was because it was Phil Hartman's last episode.
I still like the show. Is it as good now as it was 15 years ago? Of course not. But when you compare it to the other schlock on TV it's really very good IMO.

Better question is when did Jumped the Shark Jump the Shark? I just blew you minds. probably when TV guide bought the site Just went there and my god! Did the people at TV Guide attend a class held by Vince McMahon on what to do with a property once you've bought it out?

"Dude, Where's My Ranch"- for me, that was the point where I stopped watching regularly.

'Churning out a few classics' occasionally does not mean they hadn't jumped the shark.
Simpsons jumped the shark when Ken Keeler realised that fans were idiots and wrote Principal And The Pauper about them.
They then DIDN'T GET IT.
Then came the malignant touch of Mike Scully and the show was warped beyond all recognition.

You know I was watching that episode where Homer and Ned become bounty hunters (in of itself pretty dumb) and something dawned on me, the fact that it was so "cartoony" for lack of a better word.
Simpsons used to be an animated sitcom, and over the years it became a cartoon if you catch my meaning.

Yeah, Saddlesore Galactica. It had been degrading since season 9, but that was the point where you just knew the show was dead in the water and felt okay admitting it to yourself.

Groening even talks about it in some of the DVD commentaries(he doesn't say anything about later seasons, be he really emphasizes how much the earlier seasons were more like a live action show than a cartoon, making obvious reference to the fact that the newer ones weren't. He also makes it clear that he was busy with Futurama stuff during some episodes. Funny how based on little things like that, you can figure out what episodes he downright hates).

Patty only had one romance with a man, Skinner, back in season 1. Marge indicated in the past that Patty had chosen celibacy Patty appeared in the Springfield Gay Pride Parade on the "In the Closest" along with what really looked like Smithers. Patty was shown leaving the Maison Derriere when the city was planning on tearing it down. In flashback episodes after Patty came out, it was shown she may like Krabappel and she stole some guy's wife away another time. Not only that, but when she saw Homer running naked, she went "There goes the last lingering thread of my heterosexuality". It was hinted throughout the series. Anyway, I can't think of one episode that killed off the series momentum IMO. It just got worse and worse in the 2000s. Thats just my take.

Yeah, I left that out because it was a Hallowe'en episode and thus not really part of the cannon.

Yeah, Pattie was hinted, but it was by no means as blatent as Smithers was. Granted, that whole episode was a massive mess, so it was probably a distraction to the whole matter of Springfield only having one church, or a city having the authority to recognize gay marriage.
