So I was on a car trip today and got to thinking some about the Cutler-Orton trade. It was pretty much obvious from the get go that the Broncos bent the Bears over on the trade, giving them a statistically slightly better QB in exchange for a solid QB as well as two first round draft picks. Now with Orton looking statistically likely to lead the Broncos into the playoffs... I got to thinking about how Orton and Cutler will almost definitely remain linked in the annals of sports.
Then there's Phillips and Manning thanks to the 2004 draft day trade between the Giants and Chargers. Phillips has better stats in virtually all categories, which probably isn't that great of a compensation since he doesn't have a SB ring.
Any more?

Steve Alford and Reggie Miller
1987 NBA Draft
Alford leads the Indiana Hoosiers to a National Championship and all of Indiana is convinced that hes going to be drafted by the Pacers. He is still available when the Pacers finally come up to make their selection. Instead they select a gangly shooting guard out of UCLA and boos and death threats commence. 20 years later Miller's the pride and joy of the city.

Hershal Walker and the Cowboys football dynasty during the 90's. The Cowboys basically built the foundation of that team with the picks they got from the Vikings.
If you just want guys who are linked look no further then boxing.
Ali & Frazer Gatti & Ward Robinson & Lamotta Corrales & Castillo Vazquez & Marquez Ray Mancini & Duk Koo Kim ( Though this one for more infamous reasons) Schmeling & Louis Baer & Braddock Johnson & Jeffries

Bill Buckner and Mookie Wilson. They are not only forever linked by that moment but by the fact they've done autograph appearances together.

Hershall Walker to the Vikings for the entire future of the program.
The Dallas Cowboys used the picks given to them by Minnesota to get Irvin, Aikman, and Smith and a couple Super Bowl rings.

They actually already had Aikman and Irvin, but the trade did net them Smith, as well as other valuable players like Russell Maryland, Dixon Edwards, Alvin Harper and Darren Woodson. To the topic at hand, I'll say Roger Clemens and Mike Piazza. Forever connected by a chunk of broken bat.
