Let me preface by saying I'm an M.B.A student and know everything you need to know about running an effective business. I realize DX is a huge merchandise cash cow and a pretty big draw for casual fans and marks, but as someone who has been a fan of this business for over 20 years I'm just really starting to grow tired of these guys.
Make no mistake about it, I really don't mind HHH and HBK. I do, however, detest the current character molds they are in. HHH as The Game, the Cerebral Assassin, and HBK as the cocky showstopper and main event I have no problem with. Their current characters just don't seem right at all and seem to be bastardizing what both of these men hope to be remembered by in the long run. I just can't stand this cornball elementary school humor anymore with these two guys, it just doesn't seem right. It doesn't seem right that a guy, who, a decade ago, was the most over and despised heel the company had seen in years. It doesn't seem right that a guy who was always known as a brash, cocky, yet consummate performer is now being relegated to having his hat stolen by leprechauns.
I realize all of this was over a decade ago, and I realize these current characters both fit into the DX mold, but it just seems insulting to me and other longterm fans that a stable that was known as being the anti-authority, rude, crass, vulgar entity that for all intents and purposes help shape the biggest boom period in company history is now being rehashed as some sort of family friendly, corny duo of goofballs.
I guess I just can't take this DX stuff much longer. I miss seeing both these guys as their legitimate characters in respectable feuds, especially HBK. I'm just tired of seeing these two guys become a parody of themselves.
I've never really had a problem with "PG" WWE, as I believe it's been a very smart and effective business model in luring in a whole new generation of fans. I just think they should maybe cater to some more traditional fans as well some time down the road.

I'm not sick of DX so much as I am sick of their shilling and time wasting. As wrestlers, I still enjoy their matches.
Does anyone else think the DX theme is the sort of thing that would be laughed off the street if it wasn't a wrestling theme. I eman, the way the guy says "Them's the breaks, little meeeeeeeaaaaaaan" is so laughably faux-badass.

They are fine in short stints. But when you start dragging it on and on....like now, it's a little hard to handle.
The fact that they are so far and away from what D-Generation X is supposed to be about makes it even harder to stomach for fans that were around in 1997. At least IMO.
Triple H and Shawn Michaels on their own are fine with me. I enjoy watching them most of the time. But the DX thing should be saved for one night special occasions or short little feuds. Not a full time deal.

I did not want DX back because of a lack of originality. Instead of rehashing a tag team/stable, WWE should have created a new tag team/stable.

If it wasn't a PG WWE and if they would actually be cool like they were in 97 I wouldn't mind DX. But ever since DX first came back it has been crap.

I'm pretty sure 90% of this board is sick of DX judging by the weekly RAW threads. Can't say that I blame them, I'm sick of DX too. Like others have said, Triple H and Shawn Michaels are perfectly fine on their own, but as soon as you slap some neon green on them they start acting like idiots. It's tiresome.

The way you described DX as a corny duo of goofballs made me cringe at the inevitable WWE film they will be starring in soon.

I still enjoy Goofy Shawn, but their intentional DQ at the Slammy's last week pissed me off. That's something heels do, not DX. Not only that, but JeriShow won the match by DQ, which means they should get another title match.

Yeah they aren't true rebels anymore, but the 09 version of DX is funnier to be then the 06-07. I'm pretty entertained by them...

I find them to be great. I was tired of 'The Game' in the main event title hunt, so this is a twist on his character I enjoy. HBK when he gets serious like in his feud with Taker is fantastic, but he doesn't need to be serious anymore, character wise, because he's pretty much done it all. Like if he gets as serious as he did with Taker with someone like Swagger, it wouldn't make sense.
And the whole point of them acting like goofballs is because they know it's ridiculous for them to be anti-authority anymore considering their standing in the company...it's a giant wink to the audience and what their whole humour is based on. Every single one of their skits is a giant wink to the audience in reality, and that's what makes them fun. I could take many more months of DX, if for no other reason than it's allowed Sheamus and Kofi to be elevated, and I genuinely do find them funny in any case.

^^^^ I agree.
It's just funny seeing DX being admittingly be nothing more than merch shillers and two guys doing a DX impression because the bare a likeness to the old DX enough to pretend to be them like they tricking the fans.

I'm happy to be in the minority that can appreciate DX. I couldn't stand another reason to suffer, while RAW is on. Between Cole, Hornswaggle, Chavo et al... DX is a parody of their former selves, and that's not hidden. They revel in that fact. Now, it's two veterans who have done it all, and they're just enjoying their twilight with the audience. DX is ironic, if nothing else, and I don't think it's this awful elephant in the room that the WWE tries to hide. If young fans take DX as hip revolutionaries, then I suppose that's okay too; but older fans would, or probably should recognize, that they aren't 'pretending' to be young. They mock their age; Shawn's balding. That's DX in 2009, they aren't pretending to be DX '97, nor should they.

Shawn can't use a computer. He's balding. He can't text message. He had to cover his eyes whenever HHH did anything sexual. HHH is married to the boss' daughter. They're hardly anti-establishment. This is all on-screen. The posts here suggest that's only off-screen, and they actually try to sell DX as teenage rebels. They don't.
None of the above humiliating facts have been hidden - it's not as if they insult anybody's intelligence. Those facts have actually been emphasized and joked about, and if you're still feeling insulted or outraged as if they're trying to pull the wool over your eyes, that's just a shame.

I never liked dx. Too sleezy. So what they're doing now is way better as at least it doesn't make me want to change the channel.
