Man, I'm actually going to start paying attention to TNA now I think. With Bischoff involved this could get very, very interesting.

And TNA is officially WCW 2000. Which, interestingly enough, was doing better than TNA 2009 when it comes to ratings and buyrates.

If this means Russo and Ferrara get their walking papers, then it's not entirely a bad thing.

DOUBLE POST to say that now TNA has Bischoff? This is f***ING AWESOME TNA TNA TNA I am marking out too hard and I'm not even sure I have a reason to be f*** it TNA TNA TNA Why is this awesome? Bischoff is the definition of "one hit wonder" in terms of wrestling booking. The NWO worked for a time, but then Bischoff didn't know how to end it, and it came around to bite him in the ass in a huge way later on. What else, since the NWO, has he done booking wise that came close to that level of success?

Who is this supposed to appeal to? Hogan hasn't caused a difference in the ratings in years. If that were the case his return to the WWE in 2002 would have been a bigger deal. His championship run at that time would have been more of a draw. It wasn't.
The 80's fans are gone, the Monday Night War fans are gone, and the current WWE fan base doesn't care about Hulk Hogan.
I am sitting here banging my head on a desk because of professional wrestling as a wholes persistent need to go backwards instead of moving forward.

PWinsider.com Press Confrence Highlights
The Hulk Hogan-TNA press conference today featured Eric Bischoff introducing Hulk Hogan. Hogan talked about TNA and stated he was becoming a "partner" in the company and that he was feeling great and looking forward to being a part of the company. The conference left the impression Hogan may be involved as a personality, but not wrestling for the group.
TNA President Dixie Carter gave a short speech saying she was looking forward to working with Hogan and that while they have great ratings for a Thursday night, Hogan would be the "boost that TNA needed." SpikeTV's Kevin Kay was also in attendance and gave a brief statement about the network working with Hogan.
The Q&A session was said to mostly be fluff fan type questions, although one fan did ask Hogan whether working with Vince Russo would be an issue. Hogan responded that as long as Russo stayed in his place and didn't cross him, there would be no issues. Hogan then said that if he did, Hogan would have to take care of it.
When the topic of Eric Bischoff came up, Hogan did not say Bischoff was working with him in TNA but noted they have other side projects they are working on.
Obviously, Hogan's book being plugged was a big part of the conference as well.
CNN's Larry King Live had a camera crew there shooting footage for tonight's Hogan appearance.
Thanks to Sunil for all his help.

B) Buyrates..... Summerslam 2004 (Benoit/Orton): 0.94 Summerslam 2005 (Hogan/Michels): 1.34 Summerslam 2006 (Hogan/Orton): 1.35 - he was not in the main event but still on the card Backlash 2004 ( ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) ??): 0.54 Backlash 2005 (Hogan's return): 0.81 So the last time he was remotely active, his appearances not only drew money for the WWE's PPV's but also surpassed buyrates from the previous year by a huge margin. This wasn't 20 years ago. It was as recent as three years ago. Not "culturally relevant since the 80's"? On what planet is that an accurate statement? I'm not saying Hogan will turn TNA into WCW circa 1995-1998 in terms of profitability, but to suggest he's going to run through the roster and make no impact because his star faded away is ridiculous, IMO. He's not as big now as he used to be, but he's still very well known worldwide. Mr Rican, stop hitting your head. It isn't going to solve anything, except for giving you a receding hair line like Christy Hemme's. Those numbers do look pretty nice and that means that people DO watch for Hogan. The Hogan Brand is still a brand that generates interest.

I never complained when WWE would bring back Hogan for a mini nostalgia run, just as long as it was a nostalgia run with a couple of matches and not to put the title on him. Even though I have no interest in TNA, I don't see any problem as long as it's similar to how the WWE used him in the mid 00's.

Imagine if those oft-talked about rumors about Paul Heyman showing up being true as well. Bischoff, Heyman, and Russo together... in the same room. I say they film the carnage and put it on PPV.

Man this is a bummer to me. I don't like Hogan can't stand Bischoff and have loved TNA with Russo booking ever since Jarrett wasn't around. God I love what Russo and Ferrerra have been doing and if this hinders them it will be horrible.

Damn damn damn! I love Bischoff and he knows the talent sine he was planning on building his WCW around them but, screw Hogan. Just another excuse for him to pimp his failed out of wrestling projects and, ruin what was the best wrestling show in the country, IMO. Hopefully Dixie doesn't fall into the same trap Ted Turner did.
