...they started calling him Daniels in the first place?
This bugs me to no end. Why did they remove his first name? It almost doesn't feel right, referring to him by last name only for no given reason.
Anybody know why this is?

Because "Christopher" makes him sound like a little kid?

it's because Daniels owns the copyright for the name " The Fallen Angel". And TNA wants to wants to own their talents copyrights for merchandising.

That's what baffles me, the announcers go out of their way to only call him "Daniels" yet Joe and AJ will constantly call him Chris. This would be fine, except you have two guys on the roster now who go by one name with the announcers and get called "Chris" during promos.

Could someone explain why this is such a big deal? I don't know I feel like I am missing something for not caring as much as other people seem to. I guess I just don't understand how "Daniels" is apparently boring and bad but adding Christopher to it makes it exciting and great.

"You're facing Daniels tonight" "Get out here and face me, Daniels!" But when he's face to face with AJ or Joe, who just repeatedly called him "Daniels" suddenly it's "Hey Chris".

It wouldn't be so bad if he had a cool last name. Goldberg, Batista.....and then you have Daniels.

To me it just sounds like how back in highschool some people were adressed by their last names. Especially in sports. A coach would say "get out there Smith" or something while manyof Smith's friends would call him Jerry or whatever. I also don't find it much different than people saying Cena, Austin, Hogan, or Dreamer.

Beyond that, his last name is the least of his worries, as far as credibility goes. He has the look and build of a Junior High substitute math teacher. If his nameplate starts suddenly flashing CHRISTOPHER Daniels and the announcers refer to him every now and then as such its going to make such a huge difference in anything? Its essentially meaningless.

Nicely said Bubble Lead. Now let's focus on the real problem. His left eyebrow has to many hairs and I can't take him seriously

I agree that I think TNA was trying to "Goldberg-ize" his name by just calling him Daniels. I just don't think it works that well, for a reason I can't put my finger on. I still call him Chris or Christopher Daniels when talking about him to friends though. Kinda like how saying Bill Goldberg was always acceptable in addition to Goldberg.
Then again as long as TNA keeps pushing Daniels in a main event role for the TNA World Championship, they can call him Gaylord Q. Tinkledink for all I care. I'm just glad to see TNA finally pushing him as a top guy.

Besides, he made his name (no pun intended) as "Christopher Daniels"; the name he has in the history of X Division and Tag Team Champions. I can understand not calling him "The Fallen Angel" anymore (thanks angryfan), but taking away his first name after establishing him with both names is just...silly.
