we don't really have a general movie thread so I'll just make a topic about it.
aaannnnyway, I really really liked it. if it had come out in 2009 it probably would've been my film of 09. I can see why some people don't like it, but that's because this film gets super terry gilliam (no kidding, some of the cg work looks like monty python era gilliam... but cg).
The one thing I can say that I didn't like about it, and this was pointed out to me by someone who didn't like the film before I saw it, is that you can sorta see a halo around the actors when they're in the imaginarium. Now the thing is, this really isn't a blue screen effect as much as it is whomever was in control of the lighting of the actors when they were acting in the blue screen enviorment lit them up too much. So instead of them looking natural in the environment they kind of pop and seem out of place.
I mean I still really enjoyed it, but that is really noticable. Overall if you want to see how crazy terry gilliam can get with cg I say check this film out when it hits dvd or blu ray.

I feel a bit weird now, we got something before the US?! Personally loved the movie, it was a miracle that they were able to pull off completing the film despite the death of Ledger.

Some really good Gilliam imagery, and Tom Waits stole the movie out from everyone else. "Hey, Parny! I'M GOIN' TO CHICAGO!!!"

I just can't get behind a movie that had to be "rescued" by the trifecta of overrated actors in Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell. I'm sure I'll see it at some point, but those three are not my favorite actors at all, so it probably won't be to my liking.
