Well, the break out star isn't necessarily someone who debuted, but made a bigger impact (no pun intended) then the year prior. People who debuted and made somewhat of an interesting mark are good as well. Anyway, explanation of the choices:
-Dr. Stevie - TNA's professional therapist. After spending years getting his PhD and not being able to focus on his side career as WWE superstar, Stevie Richards was now able to show some of the sessions he had with TNA star Abyss. Dr. Stevie went from being a lower card guy in one company, to being one of the most hated and fascinating heels in TNA. So for that, Dr. Stevie was a break out star.
-D'Angelo Dinero - The Pope came into TNA, debuting in the Steel Asylum, and making an impact against Suicide. The Pope's over the top preacher character made him an instant fan favourite, despite being originally a heel. While he had a bit of success in WWE, he completely changed the way people look at him, and is pegged as a future star in TNA, being signed to an extension by Dixie Carter.
-Hamada - One of the hardest hitting chicks on the roster, Hamada has already beaten both the tag team champions, and almost won the TNA Global Title from Eric Young. Has put on a ton of great matches as well on TNA tv.
-The British Invasion - Both Brutus Magnus and Doug Williams weren't doing much separately. Brutus being the Gladiator, and Doug Williams pretty much waiting to get on Tv after the World X Cup. But, after being put together, and feuding agaisnt Team 3D, they became one of the hottest tag teams in TNA, and arguably the best tag team this year. Held both IWGP and TNA World Tag Team Titles this year.
-Desmond Wolfe - Desmond was looking to make an immediate impact with joining TNA, and did that by attacking the top guy on the roster, Kurt Angle. Ever since then, he's done everything to mess with Mr. Mangled, and became one of the fastest rising stars of the year in professional wrestling.
-Daniels - Daniels made his return earlier this year, almost defeating Kurt Angle before Lethal Lockdown. Since then, Daniels has been X-Division Champion, and for the first time in his long TNA career, had a continuous rivalry with the TNA World Champion. While he's been around for awhile in TNA, 2009 may've been his biggest year to date.
-Eric Young - One time was pegged as the future of TNA, but it never really worked out for Eric. Always being the funny guy, Eric finally snapped, attacking Jeff Jarrett, and forming a new path in his career. Eric Young started up the World Elite, and quickly became the TNA Legends Champion after beating Kevin Nash and Hernandez. Young went from being the comedy fodder, to one of the top heels currently in TNA.
-Hernandez - For years, he was simply a tag team wrestler. But with winning feast or fired, Hernandez found himself potentially in the World Title picture. Hernandez was cemented in the eyes of the fans after defeating a red hot Samoa Joe, throwing him in the title hunt.
Matt Morgan: Potential was another label thrown on Matt Morgan. Spending most of the year trying to gain entry into the Main Event Mafia, Matt Morgan was finally able to garner the title shots that he wanted. Morgan was then made into the star that he is after a losing effort to Kurt Angle at Bound For Glory.
Daffney: Originally brought in as a practical joke, Daffney ended up becoming one of the more warped personalities on TNA roster. Emotionally destroyed by the abuse from the Beautiful People, Daffney found solice in Dr. Stevie and wanted to get some help after being sent back into her downward spiral. Daffney got involved in some of the more violent aspects of 2009, including a concussion at the hands of Mick Foley, and getting slammed in barbed wire.
Well, I did my best to somewhat explain the options I guess.
