Ivan Putski was an extremely popular wrestler who had a very limited moveset judging from the matches I've seen. Which other wrestlers with limited moveset or lack of talent are very popular? In the day and age where "workrate" has now become a household term for someone with a varied moveset, who is popular despite their lack of workrate? In other words, fans could care less if they had only 2 or 3 moves in entire repetoire.

Big Dave Batista. He's popular on the internet because of the sheer narm he provides with his promos and his Photoshop friendly expressions..

Nah Hogan wasn't that limited, he just wrestled that way in WWE because he didn't need to do more, and most of his opponents WERE very limited anyways.
Look for Hogan VS Fujinami to see how he can wrestle. And even in his old age, look for Hogan VS Chono.
As for my answer to the topic, I'll say Kevin Nash.

Putski wasnt any less skillfull than the vast majority of the WWF roster at that time that relied on 7 minutes of various arm related rest holds for a 9 minute match.
I still think Goldberg was talented and had some great power moves.

I might catch a lot of flack for this one but the Road Warriors. I doubt you'll catch flack. They were FAR from technical wizards and were over like gangbusters for years. Id say they fit the idea to a tee. Keeping with the Warrior theme....THE ULLLLLTIMATE WARRYAH!!!

How have we made it this far in a thread about limited wrestlers that were over without mentioning the Sandman or New Jack?

Yeah New Jack defines this. Although he was also never really a main eventer, just a really popular upper midcard guy.
For main event guys, Sid or Kevin Nash.
Edit: Ultimate Warrior, too.

I can't believe it took that long for someone to bring up Sid. I love the guy, but as Shawn Michaels once said on commentary "He's the biggest piece of luggage in the business, he has to be carried every night".
