I can't believe it took that long for someone to bring up Sid. I love the guy, but as Shawn Michaels once said on commentary "He's the biggest piece of luggage in the business, he has to be carried every night". Doesn't matter, because Sid > Shawn Michaels. Great Khali

ECW: New Jack Sandman
WWF: Andre towards the end of his run Hogan Duggan
WWE: Khali (at least in India)
TNA: I can only imagine Steiner but I haven't seen his matches. The reports keep claiming he's in so much pain it takes a 12 step process to tie his shoes.

I might catch a lot of flack for this one but the Road Warriors. The Road Warriors were the FIRST ones that I thought of. Hogan is Ricky Steamboat compared to the in ring ability of the Road Warriors.

I've heard people mention the british wrestler "Big daddy" in such a manner. can't judge myself because i haven't seen him. I have seen a couple of matches and judging from those, he was severely limited in the ring, but incredibly popular in the UK, so he fits the bill of severely limited, but popular.

What? From what I remember, The Rock was a solid technician mixed in with a bit of power. Maybe not the world's best, but he was better than 75% of the roster at any given time.

Heh heh, I immediately thought of Big Daddy myself. Apparantly he was mega over in England, but christ, I remember seeing a match posted on here with him and some other fat guy... don't remember the name, but it was like 5 minutes of two fat guys more or less bumping into each other.
edit:I didn't actually watch the clip posted in here untill after I made this one, it was the Haystacks match.

I'm wondering if Tiger Jeet Singh counts. He was no great technician, but he was over, or still is, in Japan.

The first person to come to mind was The Boogeyman, but he wasn't around (and not injured) very long.

Putski wasnt any less skillfull than the vast majority of the WWF roster at that time that relied on 7 minutes of various arm related rest holds for a 9 minute match. I still think Goldberg was talented and had some great power moves. Mac, do you think that workrate would have been defined differently since a DDT or such would be a finishing move years ago compared to now? I am not saying that Putski was a guy with no skill. Apparently he had charisma like a few had, but compared to say a Ric Flair, he was limited. But he was marketable even though he himself had a limited moveset. I am not saying he sucked but I hate to repeat myself, but would he be someone who had a good workrate considering that he could wrestle a match longer than 10 minutes without blowing up? In other words, does the definition of workrate change depending on the decade? Someone would someone with a good workrate in the 70s have been considered slow, plodding, and would be considered an awful wrestler nowadays?
