Joking or not, in all seriousness, I don't really look at it as Bret selling out his values. The guy has family in the company he can help out, he's not in a position where he has to potentially humiliate himself for a pay day, and he's got a chance now to say goodbye to an audience he never truly got to give a farewell to. A part of me doesn't want him back on WWE TV for tons of reasons, but I can't really look down on the guy for doing something that can be a benefit to his family and help him achieve some closure in his own life. Again, though, I just really, really hope we don't get a Vince vs. Bret angle. That would just feel wrong in every way to me.

After 12 years of speculation, don't you think the final product would be nothing close to the surrounding hype and hope for that magical moment/night? Ask Axl Rose. Hey, I liked Chinese Democracy. Okay, maybe not "wait over a decade" like, but whatever.

My problem is that I swore I'd never watch wrestling again once Bret came back because by then I'd have seen everything worth seeing. McMahon buying WCW?--check. NWO in WWE?--check. Bischoff?--Check. Hogan's last run?--Check. Y2J return?--Check. Disnification of ECW?--Check. So what's left? Hogan vs. Austin? Not in the cards and if it were, probably not worth the wait. They say anything can happen in the WWE and they proved it. The unfortunate side affect is that after Bret's stint, at least one of their lifelong fans might be totally satiated and not come back. You know, the more I think about it, the more I think I'm in this same boat. Now that Bret Hart is coming back to WWE, I think the only thing left is a Randy Savage appearance on WWE television. Then there's nothing left.

Hart's being a bit of a hypocrite. He said he would NEVER work for Vince again and promised that. And he was supposedly a man of his word. It cant be the money issue either. Considering his book and all the sales of that being it was one of best if not the best wrestling book ever. Does Bret really want to do this? The only former wrestler I have any respect for his Bruno Sammartino in this regard. He never knuckled under and went crawling back to the WWE and Vince Mcmahon after saying all this crap about them cause eh ddint want to be made out to be a hypocrite. He stood by his convictions. Then u guys like Dibiase, Bret, jake, Superstar Billy Graham, Honky etc. Guys who trash talk Vince in the WWE when they are out and then go crawling back for a payday Bret's got a shot to help out family in Natalya, and DH Smith, and someone who is pretty much a member of the Hart family in Tyson Kidd. It's not about money, but helping out family. And since Bret signed for multiple months, there's the possibility of Owen and Davey Boy going into the Hall of Fame. Think about it Bret comes back to help out the younger members of his family, say goodbye to the WWE fans, and possibly induct Owen and Davey Boy into the Hall of Fame. That wouldn't be crawling back for a payday, that would be helping out family.

You know what else just occurred to me? I know it's a long shot, but... has there been any word from Bret himself? Has he done any interviews lately or anything? Can you imagine the backlash if this whole thing was one big work, and Shawn and Vince stand in the middle of the ring to open the show next week, announce Bret, the music hits, and out comes that midget Hart they once pulled (or, in this case, probably Hornswoggle dressed as Bret)? This could lead to an appearance by the Hart Dynasty and kick off the Harts/DX feud without Bret being there.
Like I said, long shot... but I wouldn't put it past them.

Look, this was 12 years in the making. I'm psyched for it. It is closure, whatever happens. The only thing that bothers me is in the intro to RAW... I don't know if they always had Ted DiBiase saying "everybody has a price" over Bret Hart footage but I only started noticing it last week. So is that a little jab at him or what? It used to say "Hulkamania is running wild" and hulk ripping his shirt, followed by Bret. It is probably just, lets not advertise someone working for the competition, and possibly a shot at Hogan. Also Dibiase is awesome though I would have preferred a laugh instead <_< >_>

I don't think WWE would be stupid enough to do that. It would count as false advertising. Putting Bret Hart's actual likeness on their tv and website....would guarantee false advertising if he had nothing to do with it. He could probably sue them too. And if TNA had their say.....they would probably play up that WWE lies to their fans.

It is kind of wierd that Bret has nothing on his own website about it, especially since it has been made "official" on WWE television. It would be pretty bad if they just pulled that kind of garbage to get more people to watch Raw and not TNA. I might actually stop watching considering they actaully put build into it(atleast the other times they were last minute teasers that they didn't advertise). But then again if Bret really wasn't coming back you would think he would say something on the internet that the rumors are false.

Bret Hart vs. Vince McMahon is one of the few dream confrontations left in the business. Not for workrate or anything like that, but for the history involved in the moment and Vince will bump like mad and take some crazy chair shot for Mania that will leave him blading like crazy. Like anyone is going to blade in the WWE nowadays

Just something I want to point out (this thread is HUGE, so I don't know if this was mentioned before): rumor has it that Bret is returning ONLY (and I do mean ONLY) so Vince inducts Owen Hart on the HOF.
Apparently it was one of Vince's conditions... if the rumors are right, Bret is supposed to induct Owen on next year's HOF. After that, Bret is leaving the WWE for good.

Well, while it's not exactly the same as the 12 year itch we have with Bret, they DID advertise Trump vs. Rosie, and we all remember how that went down...

Why doesn't Bret Hart just come in with an army of wrestlers to try and take wrestling back to the way it was? I'd watch it.

Well, he did an interview on F4W shortly after the first name drop of him on Raw. He said he couldn't say anything at the moment except that he was in talks with WWE.

After this, the only possible "major moments" left are: Randy Savage returns to WWE. Sting comes into WWE to fight Undertaker. Rock returns to fight Cena. A WCW revival.

Anyone else imagining a scene reminiscent of Survivor series 1998? i.e the bit after they repeat the screwjob (kayfabe this time obv) with The Rock, Vince and Shane embracing in a "ha! got ya" except this time, it's HBK, Bret and Vince.
You could bitch and moan of how this is spitting in the face of all of us who've invested their hearts and minds into the whole screwjob business but still, wouldn't it be an absolutely classic moment?

everyones been clamoring for for 12 years? whos everyone? a whole world of people exist outside of the internet you know He was one of the biggest topics on Twitter and one of the most searched names on Google last night. I've had friend who have not watch wrestling in years ask me if this is really happening. I'm sorry that you don't like Bret Hart, as over half of your posts show, but you're right, there IS a world outside the internet. Maybe you should look into it. so your evidence that backs up that i am out of touch of the world outside the internet, and your evidence that bret is popular outside of the internet, is that he got a lot of hits on two websites last night?

I bet he hosts the show from wwe studios in Stamford lol. Better yet pre-recorded from his house. I can't imagine how this is going to end up.
