The following are all of the 2nd and 3rd generation stars the WWE has on the main roster.
Carlito Chavo Guerrero Cody Rhodes Primo Randy Orton Ted Dibiase Jr. David Hart Smith Natalya Slam Master J. Goldust
The following are the ones they have in development down in FCW: Bo Rotundo Brett Dibiase Duke Rotundo Jimmy Uso (Meng's son) Joe Henning Wes Brisco
A total of 16.
My theory: Vince McMhaons goal is to eventually have enough 2nd and 3rd generation wrestlers that eventually, all of them will have the exact same gimmicks as their parents and reenact the exact same storylines. The WWE will never have to worry about creativity again, because they'll just have to repeat history!
Genius, really.

It's a common mistake, but it drives me nuts. Anyway, as for your theory: interesting, but the real fun won't start until we see Nick Hogan vs. Reid Flair for the WWE Title!

Of course, Golddust's gimmick stopped being a clone of Dusty's so long ago that some of you might not have even been born by that point.
Also, Bob Jr. wishes he had anything near the career that his son has had.

I think it's because they're less likely to quit due to hazing or discover they have no passion for wrestling when faced with the day to day realities and move on to MMA. They grew up with parents touring and dealing with backstage issues so are more likely to tough it out than people hired because they look like a male model.

I think it's just a coincidence. Harry, Nattie and TJ talk more about being Harts than they do about being the "sons of ____". Ted, Cody and Orton are all about building a Legacy and becoming bigger and better than their parents were. Slam Master J, Goldust, Carlito and Chavo Guerrero are completely different than their fathers.

Does Piper have a son? Cuz I"d love for him to show up and take over Legacy, forcing Randy to be his sidekick.

Also, I'm pretty sure that Jimmy Uso is Rikishi's son. Not Meng. If I'm thinking of the same perosn, Uso and Rikishi look very similar.

They grew up with parents touring and dealing with backstage issues so are more likely to tough it out than people hired because they look like a male model. I think it's more because it's easy for them to get into the business. There are those who just aren't cut out for it (David Flair), but in WWE's current state... they haven't exactly been scouting talent a lot. I mean a few years back you had guys like JR, Brisco and Prichard actively scouting and trying to bring in guys with strong sports backgrounds like Shamrock, Angle, Lesnar, Benjamin, etc. They also seemingly showed more interest in scouting pro-wrestling schools and finding guys like Cena. I'm not saying all Johnny Ace does is thumb through model catalogs, but somewhere along the lines, WWE has gotten more into looks than skill. The second-third generations have the advantage in skill to some general degree than most. They've grown up around it, can pick their parent's brains, etc. I think the biggest thing they have going, though, is they're not really effected by the stigma of pro-wrestling. I can only imagine going through school with my dad wrestling in tights on TV, especially if he was a heel. Almost all have respect and a strong passion for the business.

Eh some gimmicks carry over some don't.
Randy wouldn't work as a half-assed cowboy.
I also doubt either Bo or Duke(Who knew Mike was a Duke's of Hazzard fan?) will be accountants.
Even Ted isn't really so much a rich evil mastermind, he's pretty much playing what the son of Ted Sr. would be, a spoiled rich kid using daddy's money.

Nah, wrestling is just like a lot of businesses, its not really what you know its who you know. And a lot of guys get their foot in the door earlier because they're dads had relationships with the same guy whos running the company today.
