Some say Cena is overpushed but he's extremely over, makes money and was getting good reactions so they pushed him up the card in 2005.Makes sense.
In 2003 Cena didn't even win on PPV against guys like Lesnar, Taker and Angle but he got more and more over thanks to his rapping skills/mic time.
So he didn't really get forced down throats.Fans chose and turned Cena face just like Austin/Rock.
Some say Edge is overpushed because of his World Title reigns. Anyone here agree? disagree?
I remember in 2003 some smarks saying "Legend Killer" Orton was overpushed because he was going over guys like HBK but heatless and was in a World Title match that year too.
Another guy is Lesnar.I remember in 2002 some people thought RVD was screwed and Lesnar had no business conquering a top spot soon.
Even though Lesnar was AWESOME,he got chosen by creative and wasn't getting much reaction until he fought Hogan/Rock.
Watch his match with RVD from King of the Ring and then his match with Rock from Summerslam. He's actually over against Rock and a part of that is cause smarks in New York knew Rock was losing/leaving again for Hollywood.
Recently Sheamus is called overpushed by some and it's understandable.
He gets no reaction without Cena around and he's WWE Champion.
I've seen some say Kofi is getting "forced down throats" but he was getting Kofi chants and nice pops when he retained the U.S. Title.Of course he started feuding with Orton. Why not?

Some say Edge is overpushed because of his World Title reigns. Anyone here agree? disagree? Disagree. Edge worked his way to title #1 back in 2006, and as champion, is one of the most entertaining forces in WWE ever. To anyone who says he is overpushed, here is this: do you think, if not injured, could have gotten a run in 03 as champ when his face run was white-hot?

If the IWC dislikes you then you are overpushed.

Right now I think Orton is overpushed, he's a competant heel, but still isn't what I'd call upper echelon. Granted, just my take.
Batista and Rey are both overpushed, Batista is ALWAYS in a title hunt in some way shape or form, and Rey is constantly pushed as the underdog with heart.
Cena was overpushed for a while but honestly I think he's grown into his push. Like it or not he IS the face of WWE right now.

I'll give Sheamus a few more months, since people considered JBL lame at the beginning of his reign.

Definitely Sheamus. To me, the definition of being overpushed is when someone's push greatly outweighs their crowd reaction. That'd be Sheamus.

Sheamus: Dude isn't over, his only feuds were with Shelton and Goldust. Those were competitive feuds too, and Goldust actually holds a victory over him. Ever since he retired Noble, he's just been overpushed. He didn't even win in his title rematch, he grabbed a ref.
As for those mentioned in OP:
Cena - Isn't overpushed, he was literally the most over face on SD in 2004-2005, it would be stupid not to have pushed him...2006-2009, he's still one of the most over so he deserves everything he gets. I just wished he'd get into that putting over new guys phase like Rock did toward the twilight of his career.
Edge - Guy should have won his title as a face in 2003, but he spent 9 loyal years with the company prior to the win, so he deserved it. He upped his game and became a top heel. He does not deserve 9 world titles though, 5 at most and they should be more spread out.
Orton - Was too early for him in 2004, but if he remained heel, his title reign would have meant more. 2007 was the perfect time to give him the title though, but god damn he's weak now.
Lesnar - Definitely overpushed.

I hear Michelle McCool gets pushed(some say shoved) down the fans throats.
Rocky Maivia was a poster boy for being overpushed. He debuts at the 1996 Survivor Series with fans welcoming him with open arms. He then wins the IC title 3 months into his debut, and around the spring, fans chant "Rocky Sucks" and "Die Rocky Die". Him as a smiling babyface just didn't mesh with the era the WWF was headed into. When he came back from an injury, Maivia turned heel and repackaged himself as The Rock, and we all know the rest of the story.
The writers should take Rocky Maivia as a shining example WHY not to push stars that aren't ready for the spotlight. Granted, it never reached that extreme since, but still.

"Overpushed" means anyone an individual poster doesn't like getting any attention at all.

When the ends do not justify the means aka the crowd does not go with it.

Bobby Lashley is the definition of overpushed. Sheamus might be, but at least there is talk about him on the IWC. Lashley had nothing cause it was a meh feeling.
Brock Lesnar, while pushed hard, was way over with the crowd.

Overpushed: when a wrestler's push exceeds the reactions (face or heel) they get. Note that this doesn't always end in disaster. HHH and JBL were hugely overpushed at the beginning of their runs at the top, but they grew into their roles.

Overpushed:
Rocky Maivia-Before he was The Rock, he was the sole survivor in his debut match then given the IC title almost immediately. As big a face as he was pushed, the fans hated him. The rest of course is history.

Anyone I dislike is horribly overpushed; and that's the name of that tune.
