I'm so thankful that all the WWE shows around the Christmas and New Year period this year have been new content. Those year in review shows used to really annoy me, since I watch every PPV anyway. Worse are those that have a mixture of new content and old matches, the new content always sucks ass (remember the one in 2006 where the 'Theodore Long huge announcement' was just that they were going to have a Beat The Clock tournament next week on Smackdown? Gahh).
Does anyone know if there's a particular reason for there being no year in review shows this time round, or not?

I think they used to give them Christmas week off entirely, and ran Tribute for the Troops on Raw and Smackdown got the year in review. When they moved to USA though that changed. I think they want 52 original episodes a year. Could be wrong though.

Nope, they had Tribute to the Troops on Raw and then Smackdown as a review show in 2007 too and that was 2 years after the change to USA
