Ya know, I'm not entirely sure what possible scenario for Michaels and Trips at Mania is worst at the moment.
On one hand, the ability to consolidate the two of them in one match would be nice. On the other, though, as someone who was watching between 2002 and 2005 I have seen forty million Triple H / Shawn Michaels matches and never, ever want to see another one. Then there's that Brothers of Destruction match so many people have wanted to see for so long - don't really get the appeal myself. Kane is not on the level of Michaels, Trips, or Taker, and I could see D-X actually ending the streak which would do nothing but piss people off. At least if Taker loses a singles match there's the fact that he was beaten, clean, and they can hype up whoever does it. If it's a tag match to Trips and Michaels while paired up with a midcarder for life, it'll be pointless.
Plus, really, match probably would not be any good, at all.

Why would anyone want to see Triple H beat Sheamus?

Has to be Shawn in a singles match really, would be a criminal waste otherwise.

I'm predicting it now, before it all starts.
Shawn Michaels and Vince McMahon vs. The Undertaker and Bret Hart at Wrestlemania
Considering how beaten down Undertaker has been all year, how few risks Bret can take and Vince's obvious limitations. HBK can bump for everyone, Vince makes his big facial reactions and they get a decent match in the ring before the sharpshooter finish.

I must be alone in wanting to see a well built "who can stop Shamus.......HHH can" storyline I think this would be a great match and build up should they go that way. The other 5 guys conspire to eliminate Sheamus in the Chamber first, so he loses his title. He then bicycle kicks every guy and refuses to leave. The next couple of weeks on Raw, he destroys some other semi credible guys, say MVP and Mark Henry. Then Steph comes out, says she can't fire Sheamus for essentially being a good at his job, but she can get someone to teach him a lesson, to stop the bullying, since she needs all the talent she has to make Wrestlemania the best show possible, she can't have her roster destroyed. She brings out...HER HUSBAND TRIPLE H!!!!

Any angle that involves FIVE SUCCESSIVE BICYCLE KICKS is fine with me.

Only way I want to see HBK/Taker is if they have HBK turn proper heel, because that's the only way the match and the build up can be different. They won't ever top what they did last year so there's no point trying - they have to do something different. HHH/Sheamus will be cool, as long as it's not for the title. Surely it's Kofi's time, and the belt doesn't need to go on HHH again. Seeing if Sheamus can beat HHH will be intriguing to say the least, because we will know that if he does, he truly is here to stay. Just please not for the title. Orton/Kofi and Cena/Batista as title matches please. Batista vs Cena 2 and Taker vs HBK 2 would be good and don't need titles. I'd like to see Punk vs Mysterio and Orton vs Kofi would be cool title matches. Wouldn't mind Trips vs Sheamus either.

First of all, we all know Shawn isn't working Tuesdays so that would remove all drama from that match. I don't think he was supposed to be working Tuesdays last year and he ended up doing some of those promos and pre-taped segments during last year's buildup. Shawn is never supposed to be working Tuesday because of church stuff Wednesday. He's willing to work an occasional one to help build things. So Shawn Michaels being champion of the Smackdown brand means we see the champ once a month or we have a VERY short reign.

I'm still convinced that Shawn vs. Taker II is a smoke screen being used to conceal what their real Mania matches will be. It just makes absolutely no sense to have this rematch. They managed to hit it out of the park last year, but I can see no chance of them being able to remotely come close this year. Cena vs. Taker is the money match. It hasn't happened for years and it is a match that you could legitimately see going either way. Cena's the only guy who they can be %100 sure won't squander the rub given by beating Taker. And the two of them are such over characters that the quality of the wrestling won't really matter because the real draw is in the drama. THink back to Rock vs. Hogan. You had Rock, another guy who supposedly "couldn't wrestle" if you listened to the internet, and Hogan who was barely mobile, but they had a classic.
That's what Wrestlemania needs. Compelling, fresh matches. Rock and Austin were able to go two years in a row, but they were in their prime. This is two guys who pulled off a miraculous feat last year and stand a good chance of tarnishing that by giving us anything less.
At least with new matches, they can be judged on this years performance and not last years.
As for Trips vs. Sheamus...sounds like a boatload of blah to me. Sheamus is nowhere near ready for a Mania main event and has been treated as a joke of a champion. I'd rather see Kofi/Orton who've been working their asses off, than Sheamus who causes me to reach for my remote every week.

No one wants the same guys in the main events.
No one thinks the new guys are ready.
Hmmm?

HBK vs. Undertaker better not happen, you can't rematch that one year later, maybe next year in a double retirement match but otherwise that's going to take some interest out of the show for me and a lot of others. Hunter vs. Sheamus...not as the last match on the show, but Sheamus has been pretty good so I wouldn't mind it much since at least it would be someone different for H to work with at Mania.
