...but let's re-celebrate the glory that was CM Punk's first title win. One of my all-time favorite moments in wrestling. Perfect booking.

You know, that's probably what first planted the seed for Batista's heel turn. He looked PISSED there.

That is a pretty cool moment. I love how Punk's freaking out while Lillian slowly announces the match.
Punk staring at the title in disbelief is awesome.

This was also the year many people here claimed that the winner of MITB would go on to lose his match when he cashed it in.

That "Punk wins! Punk wins! Punk wins" will probably wind up on a highlight reel many years from now. And that I can appreciate.

That was one of the few times I marked during the latter part of this decade. Just a really awesome moment to witness.

Such a well booked segment. Edge the guy who used MITB to his advantage two times before, got what was coming to him.

This had all the potential to kick start a really cool program on RAW. A great episode with a great highlight in his win.
Too bad they quickly ended the anarchy angle and ended up putting Punk against Batista then JBL. Moments like this happen very scarcely.

Now at the time I can appreciate it's brilliance, but at the time I was furious. I remember watching it down in my friends house, and I was going nuts because I was a huge Edge mark and wanted a big long reign.

Just a great and exciting segment and match. I still get goosebumps when Punk's music hits and I always loved that him and Chioda slide in the ring at same time.

i remember watching that at my friends house, because we were pre-drinking, and when punk's music hit, i looked at her and i was like "how is punk going to have his match if edge is still in the ring?"

re-watching that gave me goosbumps lol. I think it's up there with bret's first World Title win at the House Show, almost unpredictable (despite him being the MITB winner etc)

One of my all time mark out moments. I went absolutely nuts when Punk's music hit and I figured out what was happening. I still have this episode on my DVR. To bad his reign sucked.
