As it regards ECW, it's well-known internally that the show is a failure. We don't have a lot of details, but there has been talk for a while, heating up of late, that the show in its current incarnation is not long for the world. Exactly what changes will be made is uncertain, but I wouldn't be surprised if the ECW name and championship were dropped completely. Sources close to Sci-Fi are indicating they might go back to their original idea when the show first kicked off, that being a program that would somehow incorporate sci-fi into the wrestling product. I don't think that would mean aliens and zombies, but definitely something much different from what they're currently producing.
f4w newsletter.
I want a storyline where Bret Hart goes back in time and prevents Montreal from ever happening. And Matt Hardy time travels back to when he was relevant.

Failure? Uhhh, okay. Costing how little it does to produce, I doubt they have to do too much to get a return on their investment.
CM Punk and other people who came up through the show also have probably been well worth it.
A failure would imply not having been worth their time, and I seriously doubt they got less than what went into it. The ratings have tanked, sure, but what else would SyFy put on, anyway? Lorenzo Lamas fighting a killer shrimp?

I'd love to see the following storyline: Matt uses a time machine to go back in time and try to stop Edge from sleeping with Lita. He succeds and returns to present time, only to see that things changed for the worse. Since the E didn't need him, he was not rehired. Instead, he works at a women's shoe store. Lita eventualy cheated on him with Jeff, who was not able to gain heel heat in TNA and was released after a while. He now crashes in Matt's place until he can find a job. On the other hand, Edge's story remains mostly the same, since he won MITB before the Lita incident. Matt then tries to undo what he did by stopping himself from stopping Edge and Lita. Instead, he goes back to 1990 by mistake and the time machine is destroyed by a car. Eventualy he's casted as the Green Ranger in the Power Rangers franchise and changes his name. Years pass, and it's 2005 again. Matt, now named Jason David Frank, goes to stop the first future Matt. He succedes and Edge sleeps with Lita. As he watches the first future Matt return to his time, he thinks about all the things he learned, and heads back to the Power Rangers convention.
Fin.

As much as some might not want to admit it, the new ECW has been performing one of the same functions as the old ECW. It's given newer stars a chance to shine in a place where the roster is smaller and there's little chance of being "held back" by established stars. CM Punk, Sheamus, John Morrison, The Miz, and Jack Swagger are all examples of guys who developed on ECW. That doesn't sound like much of a failure does it?

Ugh. If they have kaiju-style dudes-in-monster-suits wrestling as an attraction, that might be OK.
Goldust more TV time, that's OK.
Really, really, really hope this means no additional TV time or push for "Hurricane" Helms. Guy most clearly fits in with "Sy-Fy" but he still just flat-out sucks.

Ex-squeeze me? A failure? The only reason WWE has any new stars is because of ECW, either because they were launched right to begin with, or this show picked up the pieces after the Creative monkeys on the other two failed.
Consider this list of names: CM Punk, The Miz, Kofi Kingston, John Morrison, Kelly Kelly, Layla, The Hart Dynasty, Matt Striker, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger, Sheamus, Yoshi Tatsu, Zack Ryder. Pretty much the backbone of the current roster. And that's without delving into those who'd already had a few laps round the track, who had their careers renewed in ECW.
If the show has run it's course, that would be because the annual draft has become "ECW bends over" night.
As you can tell, this pushes my buttons a little bit

I agree but swagger is the only guy IMO that who hasn't really developed much

I hope they do this anime style:
Christian will be the main character and search for the Silver Title (ECW Championship repainted) with his best friend since childhood Tiffany going with him, of course Christian acts oblivious to his feelings toward him. Along the way the evil Regal and his associates Ezekiel Jackson and Vance Archer want the belt more. Regal will be an Evil Lord with Zeke and Archer being legit monsters. Along the way, Christian will meet the Silver Standard Shelton Benjamin who needs the Silver Title to become Gold Standard again, the two fight but eventually join together to combat Regal.
Ryder and Rosa will be a couple who have a hard time getting a child and as such need the Silver Title to boost their fertility. They join up with Ryder's cousins the Dudebusters and Curt Hawkins to also battle Regal and Christian.
Vladmir Kozlov will play the role of a cyborg who wants a human body and will battle Christian, Regal, Ryder, or anyone who stands between him and the Silver Title.
Abraham Washington and Tony Atlas will be minor characters.
Yoshi Tatsu and Goldust will be best friends and have the exact same gimmick they have now, but join forces with Christian and Shelton when Regal and Ryder form an alliance.
Hurricane who has been battling The Ripper has lost his powers to him and needs the Silver Title to get them back, he joins up with Christian's crew.
This storyline plays out for 5 years.
