In match commercial breaks because they are always so predictable like when one guy falls out of the ring lol. What is a classic chant and a staple of wrestling and its still funny after all this years.

Commercials break up the flow of the match itself. WHAT completely ruins promos (and is pretty irrelevant now, considering Austin hasn't actually shown up on WWE programming in ages) but can't ruin the wrestling itself.

WHAT chants, hands down. They were annoying back when they started, and they're a lot more annoying now since there's absolutely no reason to use it.

I'm another for ruining the "What" chants.
It's been years expired and ruins promos. And since they don't let wrestlers rip the audience like they should it's looks stupid when wrestlers try to speak like it's not happening.
I'm used to the mid match commercials. Multiple commercial breaks during a short period of time is different.
But commercials don't annoy me like the "what" shit.
It's like the crowd can agree to be annoying (not to the levels of that other show) but do it the same way for ten years.
The perfect example was during the HBK/UT segment.

I hate the "What?" chants, and anyone who does them during a serious promo is an idiotic douchebag. In-match commercial breaks are just a part of watching TV that I learned to live with long ago.

I hate the WHAT for the same reason I hate dirty finishes to matches: They're fine when used at the right time, but they are always used at stupid times as well.

I hate the argument of "They paid for the ticket, they can chant what they want." f*** that. It ruins segments and makes the crowd look like a bunch of morons.
At least be creative with your chanting since you "Paid for a ticket" as if that allows them to be idiots. "YOU SUCK YOU SUCK YOU SUCK" while tired and overplayed, isn't nearly as bad as "What" chants.

Neither one bothers me. And sometimes, the What chants are actually welcome - hell, I was pretty happy to hear them (and the McIntyre Pop) during the Michaels / Taker segment.

Vince McMahon didn't inject the WWE with a lethal dose of poison by bringing in the nWo. Steve Austin did by starting the "What?" chant.

Commercials are fine because it's something we've seen for years. The what chants are horrible though, they can ruin a spectacular segment, like they almost did with the HBK/Taker segment. Totally. I recall the Bret Hart promo from a few weeks ago, they kept chanting "What" at him, I think it was the same promo with the loud Bret fan yelling things at him. Boy, did those chants really tarnish that promo. |

I don't mind when heels get "What" chants. What irritates me is when I start hearing "WHAT?!" in the middle of emotional face promos.

The only time I've ever found the "WHAT?" chant funny (besides when Austin first debuted it) is when people use it during Vince McMahon's promos -- because he reacts, and he gets PISSED, and he's funny when he interacts with the crowds.
Otherwise, it's f***ing useless and annoying and I can't stand that it still continues to this day. It absolutely destroys amazing promos and completely ruins the mood.
