I don't mind the old fashion small entrance curtain design myself. It seems odd to me that they block off a good 15-20% of the arena just to build an enormous fancy set which is just used as something wrestlers walk past.

I LOVED that one Summerslam where they had the stylized pictures of all the wrestlers, anime-style. It looked really cool. I believe that was Survivor Series 2004.

They need to bring back the ramp that went right into the ring that WCW had. That thing was great

I always liked the stages that coinsided with the particular PPV
examples (sorry i dont remember the years)
KotR- Giant Electric Chair RR- West Side Story set RR- Roman Colloseum Backlash- Pendulums WM XX- Floor Screen ( And I thought setting the skyline on fire for Kanes entrance was cool)
Personaly I miss Smackdown's big Ovals. Maybe i'm alone in that thinking though.

My idea for both Raw/SD/all PPV's
The entrance is one of those blow up inflatable things, like you see at X-Mas and Halloween. However, this one is a giant pair of Vince's ass cheeks, with a giant picture of him is smiling and looking over his shoulder like. When a wrestler enters, he is shot out of his ass via one of those cannons used at the circus. The wrestler then flies through the air onto a giant inflated pair of Stephanie's boobs, which at landing shoot milk out instead of pyro. The wrestler then gets up and goes to the ring, which now is floating in mid air via rockets and below it is a giant pit full of snakes.
Well, what do you think?

Yea they need to change somethings up. It just is all old now.Its all cookie cutter. Smackdown just needs a new set and so does raw. And the L Ramp would work great. More interaction for the farns

I think someone else said this in another thread, but how about a different camera angle as well. I know they constantly change the angle anyways, but they always have a "home base" shot they use. Why not change that, as it would make watching the show seem fresh?

I remember when Lita (or was it Trish?) nearly fell off the "V-shaped" ramp backwards at inVasion 2001. I also remember hearing that her nearly falling off was the reason for them not using it for any other inVasion-era PPV.

I liked the sets of Armageddon 2002 and the KotR with the giant electric chair, sets that show a more creative style than just a ramp from under a giant screen. I agree that both shows need a major stytlistic overhaul. You've got money, Vince, use it on your product!

I'd like to see a roman arena type ppv set design- where the arena floor is quite a bit below the crowd. Basically the ring is in a big wide pit below the crowd. Would be a cool visual, and could set up some crazy spots off the baricade.
In general though, any new design, especially for raw or smackdown, you would need to consider cool stuff the wrestlers could do with it. Are there high places for wrestlers to jump/get thrown off? Does the stage have lots of stuff to slam your opponents face into? One of the coolest stage designs ever has to be the kotr stage that kurt tried to suplex shane through. We need more stuff like that.

My favorite is SummerSlam 1998 at MSG. The black gates to Hell that would open and you could see the highway to hell leading into the background. Undertaker looked so f***ing cool coming through that.

I just noticed that they re-used the Judgment Day 2003 set for Armageddon 2005.

I liked the "In Your House" house exterior stage, and also the Giant RAW. I was never a fan of what they did in 1998, where every PPV had the same stage (from Royal Rumble 1998 - Wrestlemania 1999), but a different sign over the entrance. It was so lazy. I liked that ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) .

i think they should always have the ramp (like at raw) at both raw and smackdown, to make the thing where they have a flat walkway seem special at ppvs. and i seem to be in the minority by saying that the giant fist entranceway rules.
oh yeah and the taboo tuesday ones with the giant computer were good, dunno if they'll keep it up for cyber sunday.
