The old one was locked, so here we go again. As we approach the semi-finals, the competition gets even tougher. This round, you will be challenged with 3 different songs from completely unrelated categories. Song #1: Going Solo Your object here is to find a musical performance featuring just one person and his/her instrument of choice. No band, no backup musicians. This will take a little digging, especially since you are limited to previously unused artists. Song #2: Dance Dance Revolution...THE REVENGE (suggested by PKS) You thought you were safe. You thought this idea was aborted in an earlier round of the competition. MWAHHH. ;D So, once again, you are asked to scour the depths of your video game knowledge to find a song that has been used in any of the editions of the video game Dance Dance Revolution. You may use the full, studio version of the song. One helpful database can be found here (I'm sure there are others). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dance_Dance_Revolution_songsSong #3: "This is what we call The Muppet Show!" Finally, you will have to choose from an assortment of bears, and pigs, and chickens and things to find some of the most entertaining songs on tv or film. You may choose any song from The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, any of the Muppet movies or any of the recent Muppet webisodes. Original songs or performances with famous artists will be allowed. I'm a huge Muppet Fanatic, so I'll be judging this round very harshly. The deadline for this one will be Wednesday at 9:00 PM Eastern. Good luck to our top four! Previously used artists: {Spoiler}1. 2pac 2. 50 Cent 3. Alice in Chains 4. Lily Allen 5. Amerie 6. All three choices are in.
Though now that I think about it, I may want to change my DDR pick.

The lack of Avenue Q for the Muppets wrong upsets me. Also, I'm soooooo getting eliminated this round. I have no idea what to pick for two of these themes.

I hope that someone chooses the song I attempted to in the DDR round a while back.

3 out of 4 entries have been received. Some of you wasted no time! While we are waiting, here's my quickie comments from the last round: 2nd chance: 1) "Baba O'Riley" - The Who (Pegasuswarrrior): I love The Who almost as much as I love The Beatles (the first LP I ever swiped from my parents was Tommy). This is my favorite song of there's (at least this week, anyway), so of course this was going to make the top of my list. 2) Fleetwood Mac - Dreams (Ravishing One): This was a close call for me between this and DVNO. I gave the edge to "Dreams" becuase this was such a great song for its time. 3) "DVNO" - Justice (Michael Hayden: Number Dos): This came down to one thing for me: THEY PARODIED THE 80s HBO BUMPER IN THE VIDEO!!! How freakin' sweet was that!!! Oh, and the song was pretty cool too. Great out-of-the-box selection here! 4) Robbie Williams- "Rock DJ" (Z-A Sandbaggin' Son of a b!% h): I really liked the macabre humor in the video, but the song itself doesn't hold up against the competition ahead of it. 5) "Good Bye Earl" by the Dixie Chicks: You gotta love an uptempo ditty about domestic violence and murder. While I do like this song, I think that their were a few better choices by this artist. 1st Impressions: 1) "Smooth Criminal" - Michael Jackson (pegasuswarrior) : How could you not rank this song number 1? The sheer awesomeness of this still holds up. 2) Rock You Like A Hurricane by Scorpions (SsnakeBite, the No1 Frenchman): I've always had a soft spot for cheesy arena-rock anthems. 3) "Knights of Cydonia" - Muse (Michael Hayden: Number Dos): One of those great epic songs that they just don't seem to make very much anymore. I really liked the musicianship on this one. 4) Notorious BIG - "Juicy" (Ravishing One): Good for you for choosing a hip-hop song! I'm not a hip-hop fan, but I did like enjoy this pick quite a bit. 5) Eve 6 "Here's to the Night" (Z-A Sandbaggin' Son of a b!% h): You know, this isn't a terrible song. If I heard it on the radio, I probably wouldn't change the channel. Unfortunately, a "nice" song isn't going to cut it at this stage of the competition.

My Comments:
Second Chances: 1- "DVNO" - Justice Loved it,it has a unique style, and the rhytm is catchy,it was a wonderful choice. It makes you want to move
I didnt judge it,but the video was also pretty cool.
2-"Good Bye Earl" by the Dixie Chicks Not a fan of the good ol' country, but i loved that music,it sounded great, while telling a story
3-"Rock DJ" by Robbie Williams It had a good rhytm,it was pretty catchy 4-"Dreams" - Fleetwood Mac It was good, after listening to Rock DJ,it made me feel calm and peaceful, really good. 5-"Baba O'Riley" - The Who Not a big fan of the song, and the voice of the vocalist annoys me for some reason.
First Impresison
1-"Rock You Like A Hurricane" by Scorpions Love the music,my favourite of the band, its catchy as hell, and has a awesome style to it. 2-"Juicy" - Notorious BIG Again, not a fan of the style, but this one at least wasnt like every other one,it was great and had a good beat. 3-"Smooth Criminal" - Michael Jackson Between M.J music,Smooth Criminal isnt on my top choices, but still is very good 4-"Knights of Cydonia" - Muse Okay music, but it really wasnt able to attract me,to make me listenmore. Also,it took to long to start the vocal part 5-Eve 6 "Here's to the Night" Not a bad music, but it was too much..meh,it was so generic for me,the lyrics were lame and the song itself it sounds like any band can play.

First Impressions - Reviewed in order of release date (for no good reason)
Scorpions - "Rock You Like A Hurricane" It's a cool song, but it's not a good song. I love it for what it is, but this song's against some deep competition.
Michael Jackson - "Smooth Criminal" M.J., love him or hate him, is arguably THE best pop artist of our time, and this is Exhibit A. Not only is the video perhaps the coolest music video in existance, but the song is just so f'n good. The ONLY reason this isn't number one is because you went with the super-long Moonwalker version with the random wolf-howl-orgy half-way through. Had you went with the 6ish minute version, you'd get my top ranking.
Notorious B.I.G. - "Juicy" It's so sad to listen to this man rhyme and think what might have been. "We used to fuss when the landlord dissed us/No heat, wonder why Christmas missed us" just shows you the talent he had. Great pick.
Eve 6 - "Here's To The Night" This is a good song, but the competition is just WAY too strong.
Muse - "Knights of Cydonia" This is epic rock at its epicest (and if that's not a word, it is now). It's a great song, but be grateful the person went with the long version of Smooth Criminal.
1) Knights of Cydonia 2) Smooth Criminal 3) Juicy 4) Here's To The Night 5) Rock You Like A Hurricane
---
Second Chances - Reviewed in reverse order of release date (for no other good reason). I'm judging the song on its own merits as well as how it compares to the first choice that the artist(s) were used for.
Justice - "DVNO" The song is very good. Not quite as catchy as "D.A.N.C.E.", but still good. This might be one of the songs that grows on me, though.
Robbie Williams - "Rock DJ" You're gonna get a lot of crap for naked- and less-than-naked-Robbie, but I kinda liked the idea of "If I need to strip for you to get your attention, how far do I have to go?" What I didn't like, however, was the song. And that's kind of important. Angels was a much better song.
Dixie Chicks - "Goodbye Earl" Andy Sipowicz puts Jenna Maroney in the hospital for our enjoyment... because domestic violence is funny! It's good for what it is, but Sin Wagon was superior in every way, shape and form.
Fleetwood Mac - "Dreams" This and Baba O'Riley are two of those songs where I wouldn't know what they were if you gave me the name, but as soon as I start listening to it, I'd say "THAT'S what that song is?!?". Anyways, this is a very good song, and it's doubly nice that you went with a 'traditional' Fleetwood Mac pick compared to the not-so-'traditional' one from Round 1. Nice choice.
The Who - "Baba O'Riley" I always feel bad when most of the contestants pick hidden gems and one guy pulls out the "why-didn't-I-think-of-that" obvious classic. This is a great song through and through, and one I like even more than "My Generation." As Kenny Smith would say... You win, young fella, you win!
1) Baba O'Riley 2) DVNO 3) Dreams 4) Goodbye Earl 5) Rock DJ

Just an update:
I'm still waiting on one contestant. I sent him a reminder, but I don't think he's been on-line yet. He still has until 9:00 tonight, so hopefully he can get it in before the deadline.
If he does not get it in tonight, he will be eliminated. I'll sent the list to the judges and add the scores from this round to the scores from the next round to determine the final two.

9:00 p.m. has come and passed; has the contestant turned it in, or are we about to see an elimination?
Also, my thoughts from last round:
Second Chances:
1st: Baba O'Riley- The Who (someone took advantage on this and did extremely well; I blame CSI:NY for this)
2nd: DVNO- Justice (a bit of a shocker for me, but the song's slick and the music video takes it over Fleetwood)
3rd: Dreams- Fleetwood Mac (a bit of a shame I had to put this here, but the competition was a bit tight for second place; plus, I can think of a song that's better than this, in "Everywhere")
4th: Goodbye Earl- The Dixie Chicks (not exactly the best sound for the round, but then again, not the worst; at this point in the competition you need the best)
5th: Rock DJ- Robbie Williams (next to Black Hole Sun, this is the WORST music video known to man, filled with so much high octane nightmare fuel that I'm going to be scared going to sleep tonight; Z-A, I am SEVERELY disappointed in you for even thinking of choosing this song from Robbie when you had "Millennium" still out there)
First Impressions (no comments here since I'm spent from the second chance): 1st: Smooth Criminal- Michael Jackson 2nd: Rock You Like a Hurricane- The Scorpions 3rd: Juicy- Notorious B.I.G. 4th: Knights of Cydonia- Muse 5th: Here's to the Night- Eve 6

Unfortunately, the deadline has passed, so I have no choice but to eliminate Ravishing One from the competition. I will be sending the judges the list, but I will not reveal their results until after I receive the contestants' choices for the Semifinals. Congratulations to our Top 3: pegasuswarrior SsnakeBite, the No1 Frenchman Michael Hayden: Number Dos The next round will be up later tonight or tomorrow. Here's a hint:

Three contestants left. Two will move on to the finals to compete for WC Idol glory. One, will receive the WC Idol Home Game, and some lovely parting gifts. Without further delays, here is the semi-final round! Judge's Choice Fatal Four Way Stealing Borrowing the theme for WC Idol 1's semi-final round, this round will require you to pick four songs. Each song will be from a category chosen from our four musically maniacal judges (pithy titles chosen by me). Song #1: "Let's Go Crazy...Broadway Style!" (Suggested by CageKing vs Blackout) Choose a song from a Broadway musical. As simple as that. Song #2: "Another Opening, Another (TV) Show..." (suggested by Undisputed Evil Double H) A take-off from our "Cartoon Themes" round, you must find an opening theme song to a live-action TV show. This can be any show you want as long as it isn't animated. Song #3: "Hey, Remember the 80's?" (Suggested by "Statman" PKSandman) Once again, we delve into the era of leg-warmers and Member's Only jackets to find some unlikely musical gems. This might be a bit more challenging, due to the fact that a lot of the most famous songs and artists of the decade have already been taken. Song #4: "I've got Pac-Man Fever (video game music)!" (suggested by THE Baldy Kendrick, but tweaked a bit) Its time to find those wonderful symphonic masterpieces that only exist in the world of gaming. Any video game music is allowed, but the catch is that it must have been created exclusively for the game. Just a reminder that no artists that have been used previously may be used again and that no songs from the last contest may be used. Last WC Idol ContestThe scores will be combined with the scores from the last round (still being judged) in order to determine our final two. The deadline for this round is Sunday at 11:00PM Eastern. Choose wisely, and GOOD LUCK!

I'll gladly say the 3/4 is me, as I'm stuck deciding between two songs for a certain selection.
I'm interested to see the judges comments for the last round. I liked my choices, but I want to get the judge's opinions as well.

Votes are in for the Final 3 Round.
Outside of the video game section (where you all did between okay and bad), those were well chosen especially the TV Show Theme part.
