Seeing the atrocious Hogan movie No Holds Barred amongst RD's favorite inductions got me reminiscing. For those of us who remember this piece of crap movie, it was indeed a memorable experience. But I wonder, how many of my fellow crappers remember the night almost 20 years after the fact when the WWF proceeded to rip off one of its most infamous scenes?
On the night in question, the newly arrived Chris Jerochi was in the midst of his first WWF feud-with Ken Shamrock. It made sense; Shamrock was on his way out, Jericho was on his way in and up. As part of the storyline of this feud, Jericho had become the inspiration for Howard Finkle, known to old school fans as the WWF's faithful ring announcer. Finkle would do things like try to interfere in Jericho's matches, or be urged into emberassing situations by the inspiring words of Y2J backstage. On the night in question, Jericho was racing out of the building to escape Shamrock. As he tore away in his car, Shamrock caught up and grabbed the wimpering Finkle by his collar and snarled some inane threats into his face. Shamrock then paused, sniffed the air, and said, and I quote "What the hell is that smell?" The implication of course being that facing down Shamrock had caused Finkle to finkle his pants in terror.
I tried to look up a video of this event, to no luck. Nonetheless, I am sure a lawsuit will eventually be filed by Hogan against Shamrock for infringement of some sort. Perhaps there is a law about imitating threats involving bodily fluids.
