Too bad this great author was taken away too soon. It's a shame he weren't more available in the US while he was still alive.
No one is better for sheer unadultered, escapist entertainment. Extremely violent, gory as hell and near pornographic at times.
Forget getting attached to characters, I remembered a young boy character who suddenly came to a grisly end, Laymon would kill off anyone.
And sometimes the book would be totally different than expected. He has a book you assume is about vampires, then the vampire gets killed right at the start.
One Rainy Night and Endless Night are my favorites.

He is okay. To me..not in King, Barker, Gaiman territory but better than Koontz, Saul.

He is okay. To me..not in King, Barker, Gaiman territory but better than Koontz, Saul. Pretty much true but I always try to judge authors on their own merit rather than compare them to others, makes reading more interesting. |

He was barely even an author, but he was good for the cheap thrills and basic nastiness that I like in literature at times, and I DID really like The Traveling Vampire Show.

He was barely even an author, but he was good for the cheap thrills and basic nastiness that I like in literature at times, and I DID really like The Traveling Vampire Show. You're not a liar. I love his books for the same reason. |
