For some reason they seem to be able to build characters better than WWE most of the time. Before TNA got a monday deal and Hogan (yuck!), I did not watch it and when I tried it just seemed boring. But I started catching it after the monday show and I have to say, despite it not being as good as WWE, (it looks like an indy fed imo), they DO have something that they do better than WWE, imo.

Its called building characters. For example, Steven Richards spent years in WWE and after a short while (RTC), WWE just gave up on him and threw him into the dumps. But in TNA, Richards is actually a very interesting character. I never knew he had that in him and I was surprised. Also it seem more unpredictable than WWE for the most part. Maybe it because I have been watching WWE non stop for years, but in WWE, you usually KNOW who is gonna win. In TNA it seems most matches are a lot more...even. Both guys can really beat each other and it won't be a "WTF" moment if ya know what im saying.

Of course TNA has become worst now because Hogan brought in a whole crapload of guys that should have retired 10 years ago, but for that discussion there is plenty of other threads. Im just wondering if any of you, feel like me, that TNA is better at building characters.

It bothers me because TNA booking is usually bad compared to TNA...but somehow they make the wrestlers seem more interesting on the whole. Everybody on the roster seems important, there are no guys who are just nowhere and you really could care less like Shannon Moore or Jimmy WAng Yang was in WWE.

I think TNA are a lot better at this. Raven and Dr Stevie are perfect examples.

The thing that has always struck me about TNA, and particularly the Knockouts and X Division, are that the characters are so distinct. Not always great ideas, but at least clearly distinguishable form each other.

I agree, I havent cared about any woman in WWE since the era of Lita and Trish. But in TNA the girls interest me, Daffney especially and the thing is, I cant see her being that good in WWE. I mean, WWE had Ariel and pretty much wasted her. She was an interesting character with tons of potential.

Like how cool would it have been if Ariel began stalking other Diva's ans attacking them in dark places and/or biting them on the neck, just doing creepy stuff like that. Speaking of which, I think Daffney screwing with the Beautiful Ppl would be genius (not literally u pervs!), but I mean psychologically playing creepy tricks on them.

Their reactions would be hilaritous too.

The problem is that Daffney's been suffering fro her concussion issue, so it limits her a lot in what she can do right now.

Even though I do agree on the main topic that TNA does have good characters, there is a side comment I'd like to make -- I never understood the idea that TNA looks like an indy fed. That's not a knock on the topic starter, since that comment actually comes up every so often by various people.

Indy feds don't usually have nearly as many people in attendance, indies are often in gyms and state fairgrounds and not nearly as well lit and spaced out as the Impact Zone, indy feds don't have giant jumbo-trons, indies don't have big pyro displays, etc. I do agree that TNA isn't near WWE production levels, but I feel TNA is well beyond indy levels.

The Impact Zone fans like lower card wrestlers just as much as main eventers. I watched a webmatch yesterday where the fans chanted for Consequences Creed, who's about as low on the TNA card as you can get. I think the smaller fanbase accounts to that, casual fans are going to care predominantly about the main event, and a smaller fanbase like TNA has less casual fans.

TNA is closer to the Attitude Era with its wild characters and storylines, whereas the WWE has "progressed" to the next level - Kiddytude - with boring characters, generic storylines, and absurd level of merchandise shilling.

Also keep in mind that for all of the hate it receives, TNA is mainly ran by wrestling people, whereas much of the WWE creative team are more Hollywood-type guys. And of course Vince McMahon is a blowhard so out of touch with modern times that it's laughable.

The thing about WWE is they're conditioning the next generation of wrestling fans. So generic muscle handsome guys, that's what the kids now days think is wrestling. You know, it's actually very 50's of him. Sure there were a few characters, but they all sort of looked the same.

Can somebody count all the dropped storylines TNA has had since Hogan took over? I've got at least 3. It's not really smart booking to drop so many storylines with absolutely no resolution.
