I've been a fan of McMahon since 1985, but the past few years he's lost me. Yeah Raw was good tonight too (MUCH better than usual), BUT... iMPACT! totally exceeded my expectations. It had it's drawbacks (mainly the opening cage match imo), but it was still great. The matches were great (come on...you HAD to love AJ/Angle as a real wrestling fan) and the surprises kept you on the edge of your seat. THIS is what a wrestling program should be like. As much as I loved (and I do mean LOVED) seeing Bret Hart again, iMPACT! was incredibly entertaining and I can't wait to see what happens next. This is pretty much a vain thread, I'll admit lol, but I know there are others here who feel exactly the same way I do. Sorry, I had to make this thread because most of what I'm seeing online is WWE-marks knit-picking at TNA's show and turning a blind eye to Raw's faults. I'd just like some honesty for once in a message board. Raw was mostly great tonight (for the first time in a long time), but iMPACT! to me was just....well....it was just what I've been waiting for for many many years. EDIT: And with any thread speaking positively about TNA, there will surely be many posts in this thread negative about TNA. OR...they will simply ignore this thread, which is what I HOPE happens. I'm sorry, but I just am sick and tired of people who are stuck on one brand or another. I find it to be ridiculous. Let's just all be honest and say what we enjoyed on either brand, okay? And that goes to the TNA-haters too. If you didn't like this or that, then please...back it up, add at least something honestly positive (not snarky or sarcastic), or else please just don't post. Thanks.

Great stuff.
It was basically TNA's best PPV.
too bad they weren't in a big arena really, the impact zone's smallness took a bit of the "EPOCH" away from me.
IT had a very WCW Nitro feel, and I hope TNA can ride this momentum into something.

^^^Exactly. Man, imagine if they'd been in a huge arena with a packed crowd. That would have been awesome. But for what it was, it was great like you said.
*waiting for some sarcastic asshole to quote hajimenoippo's post and say something about how TNA wouldn't be able to draw or some crap like that (just waiting because it seems so typical of all the smarks on the board)*

All the smarks? How do you define smarks? It's usually a term applied to those who discuss wrestling online at sites like these, so it seems a bit odd for you to use it as a criticism. Bit like complaining about the "IWC" on a wrestling forum.

I couldn't agree less, besides the AJ/Angle match and the Pope/Wolfe match. True, Bret Hart on Raw was the first good one in weeks, but Hogan's posturing on TNA made me cringe. I just keep seeing Hogan pounding the nail into Impact's coffin before he even begins. I've become a huge Impact! fan in recent months because there were real wrestling matches. Watching tonight I felt transported back to the end of WCW when a three hour nitro would have barely any matches, but would include too many blowhards like Hogan talking to hear themselves talk; this seemed like a parody of that with Hall and cronies beating up Mick Foley. I started watching Impact! because I liked the characters, the wrestling, and the storylines. They began losing me when the Main Event Mafia took over. When they canned that storyline, I became an avid fan again, but Hogan just makes me want to jump ship. I'm glad it made many people so happy, but I'm beginning to wonder what company I can turn to in order to find good wrestling matches. Well, at least more then two a program; I don't want to only follow ROH and the other indies. Hopefully, the new Impact! will include more matches or Vince will turn up the heat. Either way, I'm pretty disappointed and I hope the future of TNA doesn't include just Hogan's friends and a little lip service to AJ, Jeff Jarrett, and all the others who have made TNA what it is.

I just think they'd draw better in Orlando then they did out here in LA. This is TNA's Epoch, a start of a big journey and a long road ahead for them.
What Hogan said rings true. It doesn't matter what TNA has done, it's all about what they are going to do.

Bit like complaining about the "IWC" on a wrestling forum. Well, donners, to me...a "smart mark" is one who is never happy with anything in wrestling. A "smart mark" is one who thinks THEY know better than the bookers in just about every situation. A "smart mark" is typically negative and usually cannot seem to find the good in anything. A "smart mark" follows "prevailing internet wisdom" and doesn't typically chart their own course or form their own ideas and opinions. I could go on and on and on, but NO....I'm not referring to just any average wrestling fan who posts on internet message boards. A "smart mark" is a specific type of animal. I think most people reading this know the type. And yes, there seems to be an over-abundance of this type on this site.

I think you'll find these forums are far less populated by smarks in that meaning of the word than most other places.
If anything, I think the reaction to Impact is extremely generous, but it's nice to see that some people enjoyed it.

I thought it was great. It really feels like a game-changer. I think just in terms of being entertained, TNA kicked WWEs ass.
But now unfortunately, I'm sure the rating won't be anything extraordinary, but I still think TNA took a leap forward, should use the momentum and keep striding forward.

For me this show wasn't a homerun but it was a double. Or for us more commonwealth based crappers they didn't hit it for a six but they scored a nice boundry.
TNA when thier PPV deal ends should renegotiate a deal for 4 PPVs a year and keep thier most important shows on PPV (Bound, for Glory, Slammiversary and two others) and have thier big monthly shows live up against Monday Night Raw.

Can't keep it up forever.
Next week the suprises aren't going to be there and all you have is a bunch of old WCW stars and Jeff Hardy.
They need to focus on wrestling.

Well...if you already hated the most popular wrestler of all time, Hulk Hogan going into this, then I'd suspect you would not enjoy iMPACT!. For that I'm sorry. I hope you can find a way to either: 1. Find respect for Hogan or 2. Somehow ignore his presence. Like it or not, Hogan made tonight happen. Sorry, I know 99% of you here hate him, but he makes **** happen. That's how it is.

This is what I'm talking about. Honesty. Get rid of the biases. Take off the McMahon-glasses. Hey, I respect McMahon and I owe him a debt of gratitude for getting me interested in wrestling 25 years ago. But that said....regardless of how I feel about McMahon and WWF/E....tonight....TNA put on a TREMENDOUS show. Tonight's TNA was entertaining. And isn't that the whole point? To be entertaining right?

I was really worried with how the show started, that X-division match didn't seem to go to plan. I know people complain about all of the debuts, but it made for exciting tv because you didn't know who was coming in next. They seem to have alot of things going on at the moment and things might seem confusing, but I look foward to the coming weeks to see where this goes.

it's not WWE fans that are negative, it's the TNA fans that want X-division guys to be the top guys. I still don't buy into AJ Styles, as they have better wrestlers on the roster, but they need to be built up first.
I'm really more excited about what they have in store for Jeff Hardy. Hoping he gets the TNA title.

Seems to me they DO focus on wrestling. At least they focus much more on wrestling than Raw typically does. Also...trust me...there are many more surprises to come. They are saving some stuff for later. Btw, I've noticed something (esp in the past month or so) I love how you and so many internet fans throw around the word "old" in regards to TNA. Ummm...how about you take a look at the menial age of the WWE roster? Take a look at Taker, HBK, HHH, f'n Finlay, Kane, etc. And it goes on and on. But....once again...biases shine through. Guys, this is what I'm talking about. Please, let's get past all this bias bull**** and get down to the real and be honest about what is TRULY entertaining to us and what is not.

Thanks. Ok, as a guy who is just sort of getting onboard with TNA, I have to say that tonight's show REALLY impressed me. Say what you will about the negatives (yeah, I could have done with less....FAR less Knobbs/Saggs skits) but I had RAW on one TV and TNA on the other, and head to head....TNA had the better show. *The Knockouts Tag match beat the hell out of the Diva title debacle with the Bellas/Maryse, and if I may be a creepy stalker for one minute....I want Hamada to have my babies. I am in love with this woman...and as GREAT as she is in the ring, it burns my ass that in the WWE, she'd be the token "fat chick", mocked for her weight and probably made to wear a sumo diaper or something. But in TNA, she really gets a chance to shine, and I think she and Kong have a great future as a tag team together. I liked the contrast in styles between Hamada/Kong and Taylor/Sarita. Hopefully a rematch is in the cards. *The Pope interview cemented me firmly as a member of the Congregation (seriously....who in the blazes KNEW Burke was so good on the mic? You never would have known from his lame ECW run) and his match was way more exciting than watching the bloated ego of HHH get stroked to orgasm over the corpse of Chris Jericho YET AGAIN. *The Joe/Abyss match was pretty good, too for what it was.... *Even the interviews were more tolerable than those that were done on RAW. *Closing the show with AJ/Angle's match was a great idea, and the only thing I would have changed about that would have been to have the ending of the show focused on the YOUNG GUYS instead of Hogan. But the Hulkster's ego must also be stroked....*SIGH* I will say this, and I hope every TNA fan here agrees with me: TNA has nothing to be ashamed of, even if they (and they most likely DIDN'T) didn't beat RAW. They put on the better WRESTLING show tonight, and they made Mondays INTERESTING again. I hope they move to Mondays permanently, because I *KNOW* if they do, things can only get better. Nitro didn't start off kicking Vince's ass either, if I remember right. Give TNA a chance to carve a niche on Mondays...if for no other reason than those of us who don't want to watch DX's shameless shilling, or Hornswoggle's antics will have somplace to turn to that actually has some WRESTLING. Competition is good for EVERYONE. Bottom line.

I totally see your point. But on the actual TNA programming, I've seen a much better mix of small/big dudes. Much better than the internet TNA fans seem to want. I want a mix like you do.

Now that I've finished watching both shows in full I can make a more reserved judgement so here goes, bear in mind it's just my opinion and you are of course entitled to yours I'm glad a lot of people liked the show. And it was good to have competition again. It's good to see people actually excited for a change THAT SAID, My opinion of the show wasn't that great really. Besides the main event and a couple of minor moments, nothing struck up and hit me and said "This is why you should watch us" In fact at one point I got so pissed during the side by side shows I made this.... And now watching the full show, nothing really gets me off that opinion. It just doesn't strike me as huge or groundbreaking. It was (In my opinion at least) over the hill stars, a pay per view match thrown away for free, no real young talent portrayed and surprises and swerves and pointless segments a-go-go. In short your typical Russo booked episode of Nitro.

Miz, Shaemus, Kofi, Orton, Carlito, MVP, Evan Bourne, Jack Swagger featured prominently on Raw this week. Taker, Finlay and Kane didn't. Hall, Bischoff, Waltman, Hogan, Foley and the Nasty boys dominated the show.
