I know I've given TNA alot of flak for starting this war, but...I want healthy competition in the wrestling world after Little People's Court and I don't want TNA to get canceled. So I'm pledging I'm gonna watch Impact on Jan. 4. I hope TNA puts on a great show and lives up to the trust I'm putting in them.

If given the choice, I'd watch Impact. In the last year, Raw has done nothing to deserve my viewership. Putting out crap week in and week out, the same old people in the main event scene, yo-yo pushes. I've had enough of it. I'm critical of TNA, but every week I can find some enjoyment in the product.

I'm pumped for Impact but it just figures WWE would stack Raw on Jan. 4th with BRET HART and some good matches probably.
That's what happens with competition. Vince cares. I bet the other 51 weeks of Raw suck just as bad as this week's but Jan. 4th...it's gonna be a good night for wrestling.

Impact should be way better than Raw on Jan. 4, but more people will probably watch Raw. Not me.

Raw has been bad and TNA has it's problems, but I got to say I'm excited in general for Jan 4th.
It seems like maybe once again, it's going to be good to be a wrestling fan.

I am going to watch TNA out of spite for WWE and most importantly in hopes that TNA will be successful and start a ratings war with WWE. If TNA sucks on January 4th, I will mute the t.v and read a book or go on the computer. In that case it would just be another typical Monday since WWE started to REALLY suck.

I'm watching TNA because WWE will be fine without me.
I WANT to help TNA succeed.

I'll flip back and forth, n then if neither show catches my interest in the first half hour or so, I'll do what I do on Monday nights most of the time now; bail out on wrestling and do something else.

I'll be watching TNA as well. Though i will probably record RAW just to see the Hitman. I would not even consider RAW otherwise.

How does the rating system work today? Back during the Monday Night Wars I heard they put boxes in people's houses and gave certain people survey paper things to write down whatever they watched.
If that is the way they still do it then people saying they are going to help TNA by watching most likely won't really ratings wise.
I'm just asking because I know a lot has changed since DVR.

"A more technologically sophisticated system uses Set Meters, which are small devices connected to televisions in selected homes. These devices gather the viewing habits of the home and transmit the information nightly to Nielsen through a "Home Unit" connected to a phone line. The technology-based home unit system is meant to allow market researchers to study television viewing habits on a minute to minute basis, seeing the exact moment viewers change channels or turn off their TV. In addition to set meters, individual viewer reporting devices, such as people meters, have allowed the company to separate household viewing information into various demographic groups, but so far Nielsen has refused to change its distribution of data of ethnic groups into subgroups, which could give more targeted information to networks and advertisers." I got this from Wikipedia by the way.

Yeah. Don't worry about supporting one fed or the other unless you have a Nielsen box or whatever, otherwise you aren't affecting the ratings whatsoever. I think this is probably a common misconception among wrestling fans (and probably people in general!), ratings aren't based off of what everyone watches, theres nothing that automatically records what you watch, unless you're a Nielsen househould.
So just watch whatever you find entertaining.

I won't be, because Time-Warner doesn't provide Spike in HD. That and the fact the standard-def channel takes away a lot of picture, therefore, it makes iMPACT unwatchable, no matter how good or bad it is .

I was a "Nielson Family" once several years ago for a while.
There was a thing that plugged into the cable box. I didn't have to do anything besides that. Presumably they were getting all the info from what I was watching and I was actually affecting ratings slightly.
They send out the cards asking if you're interested once in a while. At any rate, if you don't have one, what you watch doesn't affect ratings at all.
