Jerry Lawler played the heel very well in his feud with Bret Hart. Everything about his actions was wrong and...well, heelish. Unless you were watching the shows in Memphis, where Lawler was totally in the right. Memphis was like Bizarro World during that time. Jake Roberts slapping Elizabeth was as heelish as you can get. I mean, yeah, Sherri was a bitch, so Hogan tossing her around was justifiable, BUT MISS ELIZABETH!?!?!?!? She was just looking out for her man, and Roberts slapped her.

Jesse Ventura during the Cena/Sheamus contract signing. Wait, hear me out. The WWE canon officially recognizes the mixed reactions that Cena gets in certain towns (and to be honest, a lot of his polarization seems to be itself somewhat manufactured lately). Going by that, Jesse's claim that Cena is the "ideal go along to get along champion" doesn't have a lot of basis in truth, because even his current incarnation doesn't do much kissing up to authority figures- or at least not as much as CM Punk does with Mr. McMahon. He was really saying that Cena is the perfect corporate guy and, he really is. He doesn't do anything heelish, he does everything they ask of him and, is all smiles. He's the new Rocky Miavia. He is not a trouble causer or anything like Jesse was. Well, this is the same guy that blackmailed Vickie Guerrero (during her period as GM of Smackdown) in order to get a title shot at WMXXV- so I guess if Jesse was trying to break the fourth wall, he'd have a point.

Orton is almost always "wrong," unless you take the view that being brutally betrayed by his three best friends permenanlty scarred his psyche.
Edge is essentially the wrongest heel in the universe, boasting of his manipulations, deceptions, and trickery, feeling that having a severally shadowy moral compass somehow makes him a stronger wrestler than his opponents.
The NWO always feel "wrong" to me when I see their stuff, because they strike me as a confused fascit entity, with no true aspirations other than a paper-tiger goal, instead just wanting to cause trouble.
The same held true for Heel DX.
"The Game" Triple H is a brutal, insecure sadist and did oceans of wrong and inexcusable things from 2000 to 2004, which are still always at the from of my mind when I hear him do his DX shtick.
Million Dollar Man it could be argued was "wrong" for attempting to substitute liquidity for wrestling skill.
"Mr." Mcmahon, chockfullowrongness.

Most of the 1999 Heels were really wrong, as they had to despicable things to stand out as heels agains the faces who were sometimes just as much in the wrong.
The Rock sold out his principles and the People to get the WWF title.
Jeff Jarrett was hitting women with guitars and putting them in the Figure 4.
The Undertaker kidnapped an innocent woman and tried to marry her against her will to get control of the company. In fact, anything Undertaker did during this time was flat out wrong.
Bossman kidnapped and killed Al Snow's pet dog and fed it to him in order to obtain the Hardcore title. He also did quite possibly the most heinous acts ever committed in a story line to screw with the Big Show for no reason. These acts include, but are not limited to, smashing a priceless family heirloom, bringing light the fact that Big Show was a bastard child, trapping Big Show in a room and flooding it with noxious fumes, mocked the death of his father, interrupted the ten bell salute to his father, wrote that hideous poem that mocked Show's father, and we all know what happened at the Big Show's father's funeral.

Back in the height of the nWo invasion in WCW, Hall and Nash would often outright lie by saying they had beat opponents when they undoubtably didn't. The Steiner Brothers, for example, would decisively pin them at a PPV or an episode of Nitro, and on the next episode of Nitro, Hall would come out on the mic and basically briefly drop a "yeah, we beat the Steiners last week." Scott Hall talked about it in his RF Video shoot and talked about how well it worked at just plain pissing off fans. He said he picked it up from Kevin Sullivan's heel-booking philosophy, which basically says that, hey, let's face it: heels lie. So whenever he'd say something like that, marks would be yelling at the TV "NO YOU DIDN'T!!! I SAW, YOU GOT PINNED!!!!!" and he'd done his job. A pretty different take on heel dynamics from the "the heel must always, absolutely believe that he's right" philosophy that people like Mick Foley used, eh? I don't think they're mutually exlclusive. It's perfectly believable that some of these guys are so self-absorbed they rewrite reality in their own heads.

I don't think they're mutually exlclusive. It's perfectly believable that some of these guys are so self-absorbed they rewrite reality in their own heads. Exactly; no matter what, the heel has to believe he is, in some way shape or form, justified. If the heel's ultimate goal is to hold the title for as long and as often as possible, to get the money and prestige that comes with it, then they should be able to justify just about any means they use to acquire it. In the case of a heel like Jake Roberts, he's wrong, but in his character's mind he's right, because he feels that his actions aren't unwarranted. Scott Hall doing things like flat-out lying show that he's so convinced that he and the nWo are superior, that they're willing to lie, piss people off, and grate on people, as long as it leads to them attaining what they want. So a heel can be wrong, but a heel can also still feel justified.

In print, the Bossman appeared to be a legit heel. However I remember this angle was it was happening and it was "The Room" of all angles. We were supposed to take it seriously but it was unintentional comedy across the board, with Bossman only getting pity heat for all that effort.

He was also wrong about never getting a title shot. Guess we should ignore those matches he had with Backlund. Back in the height of the nWo invasion in WCW, Hall and Nash would often outright lie by saying they had beat opponents when they undoubtably didn't. People on here were pissed about this when Chris Masters would say no one had broken the Masterlock after it had been broken. No one quite "got it." fair enough. problem wasn't Masters saying it, problem was Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler talking it up like no-one ever broke it when it had been broken like 5 or 6 times.

I LOVED Bossman's heel run against Al Snow and Big Show. it was so friggin blatant an attempt by WWF to make you hate the guy and it was so over-the-top wrong that you couldn't help but cheer for the guy. WWF wanted the fans to think the guy was a monster, but it was so cartoonishly silly that it failed. all that was missing was him tying Show's mother to the train tracks, stroking his mustache and laughing like a maniac.

The fact that Randy Savage had to distort and edit footage to make it look like Hogan was lusting for Elizabeth puts him squarely in the wrong.
