History Lesson Time:
The early cage matches had pinfall or submission finishes. The Cage match was created to stop outside interference or from stopping a match having a cheap DQ finish. I think it was WWF in the late 70s or early 80s that created the climb out/escape victory that we all know and love today.

it looked like Edge's face was going to smack right into Cena's knee there Lita has to teach him how to aim.

There were never any pinfall attempts in cage matches. You had to escape over the top or through the door. Original rules were pinfall only. The cage was used for keeping out say the Four Horseman and kepping Flair in. That way there was a clean finish. Ok , I'm talking about WWE here. See Bret vs. Owen. I haven't seen it in a while but I don't recall a referee in the ring, but outside.

Before he asks the pre commercial questions, his voice starts picking up too. You get to see them coming like 45 seconds in advance.

Also, Dusty beat Ric Flair in a cage match by pinfall to win the NWA World Title.
