Knowing a scene from the Blues Brothers would be most posters number one pick I decided to go with your 2nd fave.
Also feel free to post your all time favorite single-car stunt.
And lastly, do you think this popular 70's genre would work today?

OJ in the white bronco.
If done right it would work.

The Blues Brothers wouldn't even be in my top two.
(1) The Road Warrior
(2) Raiders of the Lost Ark

The Blues Brothers wouldn't be in my top two either.
1) The Italian Job (the original)
2) The Bourne Supremacy although I couldn't explain why, in theory there's been loads better (like Bullitt) but it's still my 2nd favourite.

The finale in Escape from New York with the mines on the 69th Street bridge.
Also, pretty much everything from the Transporter movies.

The French Connection Ronin
My favourite car stunt is still...
Although it's nearly ruined by the sound effect.

Smokey & the Bandit. Of course, that encompasses a whole movie.

Smokey & the Bandit. Of course, that encompasses a whole movie. Yeah, that's basically my choice too. If we can only choose one scene, then I'll draw randomly out of a hat for that one.

1. Death Proof. Yes the movie wasn't great but Kurt Russell was the baddest motha f***a in that movie and the chase is absolutely fantastic.
2. There is no number 2. Kurt Russell wouldn't allow it.

I totally came in to post that. So now I have to go with Hands down one of the funniest car chases ever This Little side note to this. I live where this was filmed and I can tell you that first road they go down is hard enough to drive even at 30km/h. (the legal speed on that turn) It's a giant moon shape turn with the harbor on one side and a cement island on the other. I'm amazed they managed to get around it at those speeds.

I think the only car chase I've really cared for in anything was Dark Knight, so that's automatically my number one. Really not my thing, though.

Vanishing Point has some wicked chase scenes.
"The Driver" (movie) has some as well.
The original Gone In 60 Seconds.
Bullit (a must).
For a lighter tone: Smokey and The Bandit and Cannonball Run.
Then there's The French Connection (a classic).
Road Warrior of course.
The 70s had the best chase scenes of all-time.

And Smokey Bites the Dust. Vitually every chase lifted from other movies.
Actually I'm looking for a movie. All I can remember is that it had a lot of scenes shot close to the asphalt, with many closeups of the wheels.
Another had two guys going for a cliff to see who stopped or jumped out closest to the edge. One guy goes over because he gets stuck and for some reason I can't remember can't stop either.
It's driving me crazy since I only have these vague childhood memories of these films.
