Does anyone remember this going to be the last wCw PPV after Greed? I heard that Bischoff was suppose to come back with Nash and Goldberg. Goldberg was also suppose to win the World Heavyweight Championship against Scott Steiner if they kept the same storyline if wCw didn't go out of business. Anyone ever hear this? What would wCw be like if they kept continuing with this approach?

This question is always brought up at least every 3 months on this board! It was meant to usher in the new Bischoff era and if you look hard enough you will find the PPV poster for it on the net somewhere. No one really knows what Bischoff had planned because he has never spoken about it but because of the name "The Big Bang" many people thought DDP was going to be the "main guy"

There was a Observer Report stating that the new WCW was going to be on MTV and they were going to run 8-9 episodes of it to see how it would do on there network. From what I read of it Goldberg was going to win the World Heavyweight Championship from whoever had the title at the time. It would be really interesting to see what it would be like. All I know is Bischoff wanted to start a new era of WCW.

The domain; www.thebigbangmay6.com is up for sale according to this website (http://www.bizprolink-internet.com/0902/090206-10.htm) as it's expired (In 2009 from what I can work out ) ^^^^ That's the poster I was talking about, it was on the back of the final ever issue of the WCW mag. I never heard of the MTV Deal but then again I don't and didn't then pay any great detail to the "news" websites. From what Bischoff said in his book he was closing the company down and start it back up from fresh, he was moving WCW to Las Vegas and was going to do Nitro from the hard rock cafe (Much what TNA do with the Impact Zone) & have no house show biz for at least a year. After that AOL/Time Warner twat (Forget his name, Jamie Keller?) axed WCW off TNT & TBS Bischoff talked to the people at FOX but nothing ever came off it. That's all he has said about what he planned so no one really knows for sure who would have been the "main guy" Rumours where flying around about it being DDP, talk also that RVD signed with Bischoff etc... but no one really knows 100% for sure.

I remember seeing the last WCW magazine. They had it on sell at Blockbuster for the longest time. I think Crowbar was on the cover.

I feel sad everytime I see that poster. I really think Bischoff could've done great things with the company after a fresh start and would've made these past 8 years a lot better.

I'm not so sure. Bischoff was a shell of himself by the time he was fired. He was too married to the idea of pushing Hogan and his friends (which continues to this day), and I didn't have much hope for his "new" WCW (to the point where I was excited when the WWF bought it to see what Shane McMahon would have done with it in real life... yeah, thanks Vince).
Now, granted, it would have been the best thing for the industry if he bought it, but it would have essentially shrunk it to TNA size, something that was more or less solved when TNA debuted a year later anyway. Despite missing the WCW name and legacy, nothing really changed in how things worked out.

I dunno, I think if a good TV deal was secured and the first bunch of shows had been successful things could've built up. I think that version of WCW would be bigger than TNA is due to familiarity with the company and wrestlers early on. I don't think it would've ever been as big as WCW once was but I do think it would have provided better competition for WWE and things would've turned out a bit differently.

Yeah, I had a subscription to WCW Mag at the end and still have that poster. Sadly, I tore it off the mag and burned them and Nintendo Powers like an idiot since I didn't want to box them up and move them and didn't realize they might be worth something someday (or in the case of the NP's are worth something today).
I used to use that answer as a wrestling trivia question and barely anyone knew the answer. Most say Mayhem or else Greed or Sin.
The MTV stuff was BS. WWE was on Spike at the time and there's no way even if they're contract didn't cover it (which I can't imagine) that Viacom was going to take a risk on pissing off Vince & Company with a product that was unproven at the time.
I heard rumors of WGN, which then turned into TNA rumors of WGN which then eventually led to Superstars on WGN. I can believe that one. WGN followed TBS's Superstation format. Plus, WGN would have had lower expectations for ratings and being based in Chicago would've likely led to setting up their base sort of in/near Gagne's territory. Although, with all of that the likelyhood of many ME'ers being involved would've been more risky in a "go big or go broke" way that probably would've ended with the latter. Regardless, WCW would've had to make calculated moves like TNA.

ECW lost its TNN deal because of the WWE-Viacom deal. And that's a promotion Vince was on much friendlier terms with. WCW, not so much. Also I think WWF Sunday Night Heat was still on MTV at this time.

WCW had a deal in place with F/X, but F/X wanted Nitro and nothing else. This was before Jamie ?Kellner? took off all WCW programming and so Eric wanted Thunder to be on F/X and Nitro to remain on TNT so he past the deal up.
A week or so later none of that mattered.
ECW also had a deal to air a half hour to fourty five minute show on Fox Sports Net. ECW was so far in the negative though that they turned down the deal as the company could no afford the change.

I was thinking Tough Enough was but then I remember that being later in 01.

I was always suprised that that is the earliest known date in history according to them. Though I've thought to myself many times how long they could've gone on. Would tthe sale've happened later, or would they still be in business?
