Mike Enos was one my favorite WCW undercard guys, mostly on Worldwide or Saturday night. I always wanted WCW to give him a decent little push, he was no nonsence guy kinda like Benoit, and thats what I liked about him.
One the other hand the Beverly Brothers were one of my least favorite tagteams of all time, I would get so angry when I was a kid, when they would wrestle. Kinda like Welldunn or the Heavenly Bodies. I hated all three teams, they didnt beat anyone, and they were ugly guys that thought they were good looking. As a kid I couldnt stand any of them.
Why am I just finding out now that one of my favorite WCW jobbers was in one of the worst teams of all time?

Never understood the level of dislike for this team, thought they worked well.

However, this being my pre-internet days it took me a long time to realize that Mike Enos was Blake Beverly. I first saw Enos in some Japanese wrestling fed on Eurosport. He seemed like a monster there and I was a little disappointed that he was never pushed in WCW.

It saddens me that Enos/Bloom were never given a push in the big 2 of American Wrestling. I liked the WCW incarnation of their tag team, they looked a hell of a lot more threatening without the purple tights and capes with sequins. They weren't small guys, they weren't that terrible in the ring and they had some charisma, but they were jobbers stuck in a borderline gay gimmick (I know they were meant to be overly preened snobbish prettyboys similar to Hunter Hearst-Helmsley, but there's a thin line between a character seeming posh and gay and they skipped over that line) in one fed and on the C show in the other.

They also came in as sort of a small AWA/WCW deal as the masked Minnesota Wrecking Crew 2 tag team. I think AWA in return got one or two Flair vs Pillman matches at their cards.

As soon as I saw him turn on WCW, I was hoping for a reunion between the Destruction Crew/Beverly Brothers.
I liked the Beverly Brothers, but knew it was over when they were in that feud with the Natural Disasters.

I liked the Beverly Brothers team, and I knew Enos was Blake because I read it in one of the Apter mags back then.

I honestly didn't realize this before either.
I don't pay that much attention.

Despite watching wrestling like crazy at that time,I honestly don't remember seeing the Beverly Brothers at all.At least they didn't participate in anything memorable. Then again,I don't remember The Genius either, and he did more than just manage the Beverly's.
Having said that, after watching some of their matches on DVD,I've grown to appreciate them more with more viewing. The first match I saw them in was that DREADFUL match against The Bushwackers(who couldn't do any team worth their weight in gold justice anyway)where Jamison(who wasn't over to begin with)fails to make himself over in the least bit by taking an eternity to take a shot at The Genius, and then gives him the worst kick in the back of the pants of all time(which Lanny still sells like the champ that he is),and gets some boos in a time where smarkdom was unheard of.

My fondest Mike Enos memory is when he faced Benoit on some PPV, and Benoit just chopped the ever loving shit out of him. Enos' chest was blood red. Damn you, you f***ing nutjob, ruining my fondest memories of WCW.

Damn you, you f***ing nutjob, ruining my fondest memories of WCW. That would have been Souled Out '99. I was at that PPV and the sound of Benoit chopping him echoed through the building. One of my friends will still talk about that to this day. Those chops were brutal.

My God, their theme song sounds like it was made on a Casio.
