I don't know if this is Rashad being very good...or Silva being very bad.

This is vintage Rashad Evans...boring.

Rashad remembered that he has wrestling ability.
Silva got to "Hulk up" by playing to the crowd and attacking. It looked like he almost had the win locked up...but...just got winded or something.

Grumpy Silva wandering around in the background during Evans' interview was amusing to me for reasons I'm not sure of.

So, people who watched it, what did you think?

Can't say i was impressed with Rashad. In Japan, where they put almost no stock in takedowns...Thiago probably easily wins the fight just off the last 3 minutes of the fight.
Takedowns did not really lead to anything. He had so many because Silva kept getting right back up from them.

So, people who watched it, what did you think? Kind of weak if you ask me. Rashad-Silva kind of reminded me of Couture-Vera. Just Rashad wrestling and doing no damage and Silva rocked him but it was too little too late. Daley knockout was impressive. Hazelett had a terrible gameplan. Jorge Gurgel camp is a total waste of top notch jiu jitsu when he is telling his fighters to "stand tall" against a powerful striker who has zero ground game. But my overall thoughts are UFC 108 was probably on the level of UFC 105 in quality.

I didn't get a chance to see it, but what the hell is Gilbert Yvel doing still fighting? Last time I saw him he was getting so many yellow cards he started carrying his own to the ring.

A bunch of quick fights tonight, but no stoppages that were very memorable.
Evans-Silva wasn't very exciting. I know that Rashad used his wrestling to help him win the fight, but jeez, it sure wasn't entertaining. I thought Silva almost had it in the 3rd, and then he gassed out.

I miss Pride rules or similar Japanese organization rules. Basically if you can hold and keep your head tucked in the other guy's shoulder you can win on points in the UFC, it's bull crap.
I'm well aware it's called mixed martial arts including wrestling but when ONE punch does more damage and is closer to stopping the fight than five take downs than why the f*** are the take downs scored higher?
The UFC rules don't benefit being aggressive and trying to end the fight.
I'd like to thank Brandon Vera and Thiago Silva for demonstrating how bad the judging system in the UFC is.

So, in other words, I won't be buying this on DVD. I've noticed in the last 6 months, or so, alot of UFC cards have made their way to my "don't bother buying" list. Not really a golden age of the sport, I'm sorry to say. TUF started drawing in the casual fans, but if things continue in this direction, they won't be hanging around much longer.

I have a feeling after last night that GSP's next two opponents will be British. If he gets past Hardy, Daley will be waiting for him.

Silva's a dumbass. Maybe if he hadn't spent so much energy dancing like an idiot he would have had enough left to finish the the fight. Sucky PPV.

Silva's a dumbass. Maybe if he hadn't spent so much energy dancing like an idiot he would have had enough left to finish the the fight. Sucky PPV. If he hadn't spent energy dancing and taunting he never would have prodded Rashad into fighting his fight and not wrestling he only GOT the chance to actually fight BECAUSE Rashad lost sight of his game plan and as soon as he got rocked he went straight back to his take down game plan. If anything he should have taken advantage of Rashad terrible composure and taunted him earlier in the fight. All in all a boring fight. At least BJJ guys are interesting on the ground.

So can we assume that Rashad is a better dancing version of Tim Sylvia?

Come on now, Hardy doesn't stand a chance in hell at GSP, he's gonna get man handled and might be GSP's first "real" stoppage in a while. I wanna see Daley go up against Koscheck next.
