Damn, I am a Swagger fan but, this is odd. I got to think he is losing it soon (as in tonight). I mean he was getting punked by Santino just 2 months back.

There's not a big enough facepalm in the world for this. I disagree. It's a risk, but it's one WWE can afford to take. If it fails, fine, back to the drawing board, but if it succeeds, you have a brand new, ready made star in Swagger.

I'm both happy and sad. I was hoping with Jericho retaining at 'Mania, he could get a run till Extreme Rules at least. I'd like a decent-length Jericho title reign. But still, this could be cool. Same for me.

I wonder if WWE.com will run with this later. They usual report when the world title changes hands on taped TV before it airs.

I guess they figured, "Hey, we tried to do it with Sheamus and it sort of worked. So now let's do it for EVERYONE!"

Also...
Even though this is probably going to be an epic disaster, I'm pissed that Jericho lost the title, and there is no way Swagger can have a good reign as world champ...
I don't give a f***, this is f***ing awesome. Swagger rocks.

They did it on Raw with Sheamus, and it worked out alright.

Because at Wrestlemania he had just endured a MITB match? Oh come on...Jericho was freshly smashed through a wall....I think even after a marathon you could pin him. Maybe a spot on the massage table just opened up and he wasn't watching the match ;D

Better to have a chance on Smackdown than on Raw. Much higher chance of it working.

I'll give WWE the benefit of the doubt on this one. Let's see where this goes.
I still think Kofi should have won at Mania, but I'll give Vince points for unpredictability.

This will def. be like Punks first title reign. IE someone the company has faith in and they believe has a huge future but may not be ready for such a spot. Swagger should have a pretty short reign but I think this says a lot for the companys faith in the kid.
Hopefully this leads to more Jericho Edge non title feuding

I wouldn't really even consider myself a Swagger fan, but it's good to see someone being elevated into the main event scene.

Just to repeat what I said that got caught on the bottom of the last page, I think we can thank Sheamus for this. I know people here aren't fans of him necessarily, but watching Raw with no bias it's clear winning the belt did a million wonders for Sheamus' popularity and legitimacy. A case of the belt making the man. Perhaps they see the same qualities in Swagger. I like Sheamus, but I've thought Swagger had major potential since bursting on the scene in ECW. This could be the step that solidifies his spot for good.

I guess this is a way to draft him to Smackdown before the draft actually occurs. In that sense he's got a chance of being built up. But I definitely think there's a lot more to come on how this has all gone down though.

If it fails, fine, back to the drawing board, but if it succeeds, you have a brand new, ready made star in Swagger. I dont really think its a risk, personally. Theres really no risks when youre WWE these days. Theyre so cemented in their spot right now, that they could give the strap to anyone nowadays and I doubt numbers would really move much if at all. Like you said, if it works theres a new star. But if not... nothing really happens. He just goes back to where he was and the belt is moved to someone else.

As awesome as this is that we're getting a fresh, new, talented guy in the main event...
Just think, this could have been Christian.
And it could have made for an AWESOME three-way feud boiling over with personal history.
But I'll take this. Yes sir, I'll take this and LOVE it.
